Just a little autopanning VST post. I like to have things wobble around a bit in the stereo field - might as well, eh? In Reason I just have a Little LFO running into a channel's pan CV input, with the first LFO modulated by the next LFO, bit of S&H etc to keep things wobbly and random. Spending more time in Ableton Live, an equivalent machine made out of native Autopan and LFO devices turned out to be unexpectedly CPU heavy (by panning standards)

Anyway, this post is just to heartily recommend the free Cableguys Pancake 2 VST - http://www.cableguys.com/pancake.html
It does what I want nice and simply.

TAL Filter 2 is also free and can do autopanning in a similar graphical way - https://tal-software.com/products/tal-filter TAL and Cableguys are both great companies.

I'll see how much CPUs a basic RRP patch uses in Live later.

I've been looking at Pancake on free VST websites for the longest time. Just decided to try it now. Very cool. Thanks for the push.

I souped up the Selig Gain "autopanner" combi preset with randomness and stereo difference. Just an additional Janitor and a Shelob CV delay, so still a very simple combinator doing simple CV modulation and not much else.
But in Live it added another 7-8% on the CPU meter, while using two Pancakes (one each for the left and right channel) adds only 1-2%. CASE CLOSED.
Each of the rando-panner devices I've made sounds different, so it's been good experimentation.

If anyone wants the deluxe randomised autopanner I'll post the combi later - you'll need Selig Gain, Shelob (free) and Janitor (free).
