Hi folks,

Synapse Audio has just introduced OBSESSION, which is nothing but an emulation of the Oberheim OB-Xa that sounds and looks very promising. Let's hope that Synapse will bring that 'baby' to the RE world too. Would be an instant buy for me.

Cheers!

Ok...here and now we have the next OBX. Guess Synapse was in a hurry since Arturia just released their thing.

They recently had the we're leaving RE bundle sale so I don't think we'll see any more synapse re's.

They just confirmed a Obesession RE will be released. I spoke to them myself yesterday.
They also made it official in the other Obsession thread here.

Has anyone tried out the Arturia version that could share their experience?

I figured I'd wait to upgrade from V Collection 6 to 8 whenever that is, and hope that it will maybe be included in there perhaps?

I haven't tried the Arturia version but not very inspired with the demos I've listened to on YT.

I really hope Obsession sounds like this!

Superb sounds and some superb patch design there! Every one of those could be a track. It makes me more interested in Obsession than Legend, despite already having Repro.

Wow, sounds so amazing!

Sounds like most folks feel Obsession will be incredible, I'm sure it will be, however after receiving a promo email, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on Arturia V Collection 7 upgrade + OB-Xa V for $149, the deal is too enticing.

Yes definitely! Repro is incredible, and I really like The Legend as well. I have high hopes for Synapse because I love the filter modelling in their other softsynths. Synapse Audio, u-he, Roland and Sonic Projects (OP-X Pro) set the bar for vintage analog emulation I reckon, followed by Korg, Arturia, TAL, AudioRealism and the guy that made the PG-8X :)

Have fun! I am guessing that the Arturia OB-Xa will be a different sound and complementary to Obsession, different patches etc and they'll both be great in their own way!

I remember that synth being everywhere in the 80's. I'm amazed it was only produced for a couple of years.

(I also remember how bloody heavy it was but that's another story).

I got a quick listen of the Arturia version, not bad but it did make me wonder if this synth is still as useful as it once was.
