Hey folks.
Does anyone know of an effects VST that's anything like Audiomatic Retrotransformer?
I know no one really likes that thing but it's so random I end up with some interesting layering whenever I pull it out.
I'm just wondering if there's anything like that level of random transformation out there that I'm not aware of in VST land?

Thanks

I think you’re mistaken that no one likes ART. it’s an awesome tool!

if you need a VST that does something similar, I’d suggest checking out XLN Audio’s RC-20 Retro Color. you can get similar results to ART, but it’s much more tweakable. it’s awesome. :)

Wash is great. haven’t used Eerie or PVC much, but I can see both being useful in their way. PVC reminds me of what you can do with Complex-1. niche, but cool.

I don't think it can do the Wash or PVC effects but +1 for RC-20 Retro Color for noise/colour/warping/distortion/reverb/eq. It's a great effect. I just wish there were a couple more vinyl static settings.

Don't think there is, what comes to mind is McDSP FutzBox, both VST and RE. But I think RC-20 is a better buy than FutzBox as RC-20 can do much more, incl the Lo-Fi/Trap wobble..

yeah, RC-20 can still get pretty out there, but I think if you’re trying to get specific results like Wash or PVC, it might be a bit difficult to dial in. the presets are awesome—weird, because I tend to avoid them—especially the one that sounds like a studio next door. ugh, I looooovvvvveee that one so much.

As I'm playing again Permut8 after it just received an update, I was reminded of your thread. You might find a lot of results you are after with its presets and firmwares.

If you don't own it, give it a try. If you like the ART Eerie setting, check out the "Specular" firmware—which will give you some very cool results. And in terms of stuff like PVC and Wash, I'd say a great number of presets share characteristics with those. Lots of really cool sounding stuff.

Awesome! If you haven't gotten them yet, you'll find the additional Permut8 firmwares on the downloads page: https://soniccharge.com/download

Crapre The Cassette Recorder Audio Processor Rack Extension is very good at what it does - if what is does is what you want. I believe it was a limited edition though.

If you have Reason 11 you can run any RE in the Reason Rack Plugin so you can get exactly what you want in VST form.

Would be great to have the same 'firmware' concept implemented in Audiomatic Retro

I'd love more of it for sure but I think AudioM ismore than that. I think it's got all sorts of convolution in there.

I've gotten some interesting ish stuff out of it for sure but it's not very nuanced. Bit of a shit spredder, but I still like it.

Actually something that's in the direction of the 'eerie' setting on Audio M is Resonatter Reaktor patch. You cna't really get the frequency shift AudioM has on the transform knob ( a magic knob of sorts) but you can get loads of cool resonance once you run it through a parallell process, whihch you need cause it doesn't have a native wet/dry that I can see.

I can't download alternative firmwares for Permut8, I'm only using the demo (not bought it yet). What have done to be able to download the firmware ? Do you already own some SC products ? Thank you
