Hello everyone

I just released a brand new VST (and Audio Unit) plugin called SAM-SPL 64. As usual with my products they are 100% FREE and Open source.

Here is the list of the main features:

This VST2/3 (and AudioUnit) plugin lets you easily split a sample in up to 64 slices.
  • 2 play modes: hold or trigger
  • Play a single slice at a time or multiple (polyphonic)
  • Each slice can be set to loop and/or play in reverse
  • Edit the sample (Trim, Cut, Crop, Normalize (0dB, -3dB, -6dB), Resample)
  • Continuous smooth zoom all the way to the sample level
  • Show zero crossing
  • Load a sample from the file system or directly sample an input (built-in sampler)
  • Drag and drop a sample in the waveform view
  • Export the sample as a file (wav / aiff supported)
You can find more information and links about download and source code on the SAM-SPL 64 product page.

Feel free to contact me if you have any feedback and/or issues (especially if you are on Windows platform...)

Thanks
Yan

No it is VST3, VST2 and Audio Unit format. It works perfectly in Reason (this is how I test it ;) )

There is only VST3 in the Windows download though.

Edit: Ah, got it. The readme file says copy the .VST3 file into a VST2 folder and renamed it to have a .DLL extension.
It works lovely if you do that.

@OP, I suggest you just add the DLL version in the same download or risk being asked the same question over and over and over! (For me, having one file that does both is equal parts clever and daft).

As per the instructions in the included README file, you need to rename the included vst3 to make it vst2... Let me know if that does not work. I do have it installed on my Win 10 PC and running inside Maschine (which only supports vst2) without any issue.

From the README
Install instructions
====================

Windows (64 bit)
----------------
For VST2, copy SAM-SPL 64.vst3 and RENAME into SAM-SPL 64.dll under
- C:\ProgramFiles\VstPlugins
- or any DAW specific path (64bits)
MAKE SURE TO RENAME the file otherwise it will not work

For VST3, copy SAM-SPL 64.vst3 under
- C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 (may require admin access)
- or any DAW specific path (64bits)

Yan, thanks for that! More often than not I find myself being too lazy to prepare a rex file out of a wav for DrOctoRex, so I see myself using this neat little tool in the future, especially for hip hop and lofi stuff. Drag and drop from the browser, yay!
:reason: Most recent track: resentment (synthwave) || Others: on my YouTube channel •ᴗ•

It's funny that you described pretty much what drove me to create this plugin in the first place.

I like to just take a sample and "play" it sliced on a keyboard... my workflow was:

* drag/drop sample in the sequencer
* double click to open the waveform
* select all markers (which have been set at transients) and delete them all
* select pencil tool and put new markers at regular intervals (which can be tedious if the sample is big...)
* right click and export as rex format
* add dr rex device and load this created rex file

And if you realized you wanted to try with more or less slices, rinse and repeat... That's why I wanted a device where I could just drag/drop the sample and being sliced for me. Of course that turned into a much bigger effort with the addition of the edit/sampling section ;)
