Omnisphere 2.6 - New Profiles, Including the Legendary JP-8080
The JP-8080 is legendary to me at least. Also of interest is the D-50 because of Eric Persing's history with the D-50.
And It's a free update. Includes updates to the arp too. Coming in March.
Expanded Hardware Synth Integration
Omnisphere's unique Hardware Synth Integration feature bridges the physical experience gap between software and hardware, giving users intuitive control of Omnisphere by using the familiar layout of their hardware synth. With the new 2.6 release, many requested hardware synth profiles have been added, including support for over 60 popular hardware synthesizers from Moog, Sequential, Roland, Korg, Novation, Nord, Behringer, Access, Studiologic and Yamaha. The supported hardware synths cover a wide array of form factors and price ranges for different types of users.
New Sounds
Omnisphere 2.6 features a newly expanded "Hardware Library" with hundreds of new patches created by Eric Persing and the Spectrasonics Sound Development team. Notably, this update takes Eric's classic sound design work from the original 1987 Roland D-50 into completely new sonic territory with Omnisphere's vast synthesis capabilities.
New Hardware Synth Profiles added in v2.6 include:
Roland Juno-106.
Roland D-50/PG-1000.
Alesis Andromeda A6.
Behringer Deepmind.
Access Virus Indigo 1.
Access Virus Indigo 2.

Juno 106 integration - sweet! If this GUI/UX applies to more than just the new arp redesign, I have hope. I largely loathed Omnisphere's GUI/UX and feel it's grossly outdated, but stuff like this looks sweet IMHO:

Lol, dude - 96% of REs look like amateur Reaktor ensembles from 13 years ago.

I can't give Omnisphere a pass on what I feel is a shitty looking GUI/UX just because there's other products that look shitty. For the cost of Omnisphere, it's simple: Spectrasonics need to step up their game. As I said, the arp design looks bad ass IMHO. If that's the direction they're going with everything else, then I'm in. Might even consider picking up another license again.

Here's our good old friend James Bernard giving us a sneak peak of 2.6 in a poorly shot video:
anything seems poorly with James but ever sexy!

Here's a better video with Eric Persing.
Curious to hear the JP8000 representation. I know they say it's not an emulation per se, but still curious to hear it. There aren't many emulations of the JP8000 out there...not even included in Roland's own lineup of plugins...

Awesome with D-50 support. I like Omnisphere but it taxes the CPU immensely.

Nice strawman. We're not talking about RE's; we're talking about Omnisphere's crappy GUI/UX.

So your argument is: other people do crappy work, so why should Spectrasonics strive to be better?

That Juno 106 integration is pretty sweet.

Yeah, this is going to be really interesting - particularly for me, since I have a JP-8080 and have spent so much time with it. The only synth that IMO, nails the JP-8080 sound, is Hive - so much so that I couldn't tell the difference in a blind sound test. Omnisphere already has JP-8080 sound sources, including the supersaw and while it can emulate the sound of the JP, it's not as close as Hive - at least I can't get it that close. However, now that Eric & co are specifically mapping out all of the JP's 40+ knobs/sliders, it'll be interesting to see how they use and what they use in Omnisphere to give us the spirit of the JP in Omni.
Omnisphere was already a beast and now it’s just ridiculous. I am hoping that they add native instruments nks support. With so many sounds available there needs to be more ways to explorer them.

I know, it just keeps getting better. And hearing those D50 sounds coming out of Omnisphere - just WOW. It's becoming a really expansive source for retro sounds.
