Blamsoft decided to make their VCV Rack modules free, they include:
- Wave - which is like Expanse oscillator + mod section in a module format
- F-35 - multimode filter
- Distortion - 3 distortion flavours
- Reverb - well, a reverb

:o

Considering that VCV rack is itself Free, this "decision" is kind of the only logical one to make... were they previously charging $ for devices to run inside a completely free platform? Kinda doubt it....

Good news and very generous. I guees the market is still too small yet and the ppl there dont spend money if the most stuff is free. Maybe in future. Well, thanks Blamsoft and ood luck!

There's nothing less logical about charging for plugins in a free platform. It's actually common place for people to sell paid-for products on free platforms.

Examples include Wordpress, Visual Studio IDE, Eclipse, Tracktion, and paid software that runs on Linux.

VCV themselves sell paid plugins on that same platform.

I'm assuming it was getting almost zero sales, so they decided to make them free to promote the brand. Good choice!

Their XFX Reverb is sublime - slap it on an acoustic guitar and you have instant Victorialand-era Cocteau Twins. Brilliant:

Win 10 | Ableton Live 11 Suite |  Reason 12 | i7 3770k @ 3.5 Ghz | 16 GB RAM | RME Babyface Pro | Akai MPC Live 2 & Akai Force | Roland System 8, MX1, TB3 | Dreadbox Typhon | Korg Minilogue XD

I wasn’t even going to look at these until you just said that. Cocteaus. Brilliant :).

Actually all of the modules are super useful & sound awesome! I just made some "simple", heavily modulated bassline and run it via bridge in Reason. The only problem is it glitches like crazy and takes 2-2.5x CPU than the same patch does in Bitwig. Reason imposes 64-sample buffer here and that's what causes it... Hope 10.3 makes this more usable.

Attached the VCV patch + Reason project :)

It's there a way to use them in the VST version of VCV, veeseeveerack?

Does VeeSeeVee even work for you in Reason? Because it doesn't for me - the Plugin Manager says it's crashed.

Yep, Win 10 and Reason 10.2.2, it works. Just dropped the VeeSee folder in my VST folder, no problem.

Where did you get the files from?

I got mine here (https://github.com/bsp2/VeeSeeVSTRack, "downloads" section) and it doesn't work in Reason, but does in Bitwig :(

Wow, these are surprisingly nice. I say surprisingly because, despite the quality of Reason products like Expanse, I've never been too impressed with Blamsoft's software on other platforms. Their iOS AUs have clunky, homogenous UIs and they didn't even invest in different icons for them, and I guess I expected the same for their VCV Rack offerings.

That couldn't be further from the truth, though, as each Blamsoft VCV module not only has its own clearly designed panel layout, but also a strong visual identity. These are high-quality plugins, and it's a real shame they didn't sell.

Also – Expanse wavetables in VCV Rack! That's amazing!
