EWQL Symphony Orchestra is on a ridiculous sale this month.
I’m always looking for that silver bullet to add to my collection and, to be honest, I’m a patch hoarder. I’m trying very, VERY hard to stop buying things. REAL GOOD Symphony sounds are all I’m missing. I have a lot of pretty good - or - pretty good with some work. I’m looking for VERY good/Pro (with some work).
I’ve read all about people hating on East West for crap install procedures, I can deal with that. I’m strictly interested in a quality review from some people I trust (all y’all) that shares the good, the bad, and the ugly.
A couple of notes -
1. I’m aware that Reason may not be the best host for this (I also have Ableton).
2. I have several other mid-level libraries that I can get some pretty solid sounds from and will probably mix them with this.
Thanks in advance guys! You are all tops in my book.

You can check it (like any other EW instrument) yourself by joining to composer cloud for one month. You will download and check each of their instruments. I tried it some weeks ago and finally decided on a Spitfire product.

I've owned EWSQO Gold for about 14 years. At one point I would have said "absolutely, go for it", but now I'd say there are much better options out there. Guess it depends on the price, really.ZombieFightsShark wrote: ↑07 Dec 2018EWQL Symphony Orchestra is on a ridiculous sale this month.

If you want quality, the best string library IMHO are Cinematic Studio Strings, it sounds so amazing in every aspect, the UI and usability is almost perfect and is not that crazy expensive (isn't cheap either).
On the down side, isn't a silver bullet, it doesn't comes with all articulations in the world like other massive libraries outhere, and are just strings (Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass and Strings orchestra)...
But it sounds incredible.

I concur - in fact, that's exactly what I replaced my ageing copy of EWQLSO with earlier in the yearsonicbyte wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018If you want quality, the best string library IMHO are Cinematic Studio Strings, it sounds so amazing in every aspect, the UI and usability is almost perfect and is not that crazy expensive (isn't cheap either).

A few years back was using East/west strings/brass, orchestra then discovered Spitfire Audio and never looked back.
The up front cost of spitfire is pretty pricey. I do like the overall quality of their sample libraries.
I usually buy on sales or when they give you the individual discounts.
Most of my money for VST purchases the last few years have been going to acquiring their products.
Spitfire audio definitely needs a rent to own program.

You should check out the following low-to-moderately priced all-in-one libraries:
- Amadeus Symphonic Orchestra
https://sonicscores.com/amadeus/
Sounds amazing, is lightweight, and the price-to-value ratio can't be beat.
- Palette Symphonic Sketchpad (plus expansions)

Playable and versatile, and becomes a workable scoring tool with the expansions.

Can’t beat this price. These are a repackaging of the Sonic Implants’ Complete Symphonic Collection which used to cost upwards of 2 grand.
