This is just a matter of simple Reason-loving logic...

- Do I like Reason? Yes, very much
- Who makes Reason? The Props
- Do I want the Props to continue to support and improve Reason? Yes, definitely
- What do the Props need to support and improve Reason? Smart designers and engineers
- What do the Props need to hire and retain smart designers and engineers? Money
- How can the Props make more money? By selling more music-making stuff
- What's the biggest market for selling music-making stuff? VST
- Do the Props have a lot of cool music-making stuff that would be sellable as VSTs? Most definitely
- Would the Props make money by selling a Grain VST? Very likely
- Would the Props make money by selling other music-making VSTs? Very likely

Therefore, because I like Reason so much, I want the the Props to make and sell more VSTs so they can make more money, enabling them to hire and retain smart designers and engineers who can continue to support and improve Reason  Everyone wins!
That bill is missing something... If you make more money with other business, concentrate on that business.

It can make good business sense to diversify. Additional revenue streams that compliment your main line of business are good for stability and longevity.

I actually just voted yes for a friend who does not use Reason but would still like to get his grubby hands on Grain.
He should buy Reason.
Are you kidding? I have never been able to convince one person to get into Reason. Not one. Everyone I know is on Logic and that's that.

Correction: There was one chap who wanted to try out music production so I pointed him in the direction of Reason. Then he went mad. Literally.

I've gotten at least 3 people onto Reason. It's not difficult when you explain how intuitive it is.......sorry that your friend went mad.....

I digressed with my last 2 comments, so back on track. My other DAW is Sonar Platinum, now rebranded as Cakewalk by Bandlab. I've just recently started to get my head around Grain and I'd def like to use Grain as a VST in CbB.

Thanks. Actually a mutual friend saw him recently and I'm told he's come out of it, off the meds, etc. Very happy about that but I do't live near by any more.

I would like Grain (and Thor, Malstrom, Dr.OctoRex) as VST's.

I would LOVE to use the whole reason Rack as a VST, as one unit.

Speaking of Grain VST, what granlar sampler VST does everyone think is better than Grain or is a kind of industry standard? Not sure what I'm missing...

As long as they are made as RE first, sure! If people want VST versions with no CV then that's fine with me.

where about do we contact the props. i forget which way of communication is best, i really would like to use grain in ableton! i don't really get along with simpler or sampler and vps avenger doesn't like MacBooks. so my granular options are very limited inside of ableton. i think it would be great to have the almost malström 2.0 inside of the rest of the world :D

please props

People used to rage about The Mangle and how great it is, but it's largely abandonware and has virtually no preset library content. Audio Damage Quanta is probably the most coolest granular synth out there right now, IMHO. Padshop Pro looks like the 90's threw up all over its GUI/UX - I can't even stand working in it.

The audio Damage gear looks pretty slick. Ain't got 100 bucks to blow but still. You reckon you can know Grain off the block with it? I'd try it but 20 min demos... Waste of time.

I like Padshop's look. It's better than 99% of Rack Extensions, IMO. And it sounds FANTASTIC.

Honestly, I'm pretty happy with Grain. I only picked up Quanta on a goof, and while it's indeed pretty slick - I keep falling back on Grain.

To each their own, I suppose. ;) That said, at the end of the day, it's how things sound for sure.

And yet, Steinberg still blew the GUI/UX, IMHO. Go figure! But hey, you think Omnisphere looks amazeballs, so...

Omnisphere also contains a cool granular engine. But then, what doesn't Omnisphere have

Hmm.
I think Grain should have three foldable sections so it's easier to play. I don't need to see the break point envelope and so on all the time. Other than that, I'm sticking with Grain I think. But I'm just wondering if there's better granular algorythms I'm missing

(sorry ofr the bad dyslexic spelling)

I def don't need keys at the bottom of a VST window

If the Europa VST release is something to go by, then you’d get a free Grain VST license anyway, so.. what’s not to love about FREE!? ;)
But what would be the point? I haven't even gone near the shop to claim my free Europa VST, I don't need it, I wouldn't use it, I already have it.
Like I said personally I don't want a Grain VST but don't mind if one is released, maybe it's the way the question was put? Maybe a third option of impartiality?
To use in another daw perhaps? obviously now though with the Reason Rack Plug-In Grain as a VST isn't needed.
