It is image to sound and vice versa tool. Looks interesting. But it seems not to have a VST version, but i am not sure. Does anyone know if it has a VST version or any other experiences?

Looks a lot like MetaSynth…
Photosounder says it's the first, but I'm pretty sure MetaSynth was doing exactly this from somewhere around 1998-1999?

Since both are offline processes, they are not ideal candidates for a real time plugin.

There's no VST version of Photosounder. I tested the demo a few years ago and wasn't thrilled enough to buy it, considering that I personally got better results from the free Virtual ANS. I'd pay for a VST of that.

Similarly, iZotope Iris 2 can create sounds by drawing/erasing spectra. I've even used iZotope RX to create unique sounds.

I have Photosounder from years ago. I didn't spend that much time with it because Reason became huge for guitar and from using the TriplePlay guitar-to-midi device with stuff like Parsec. But I loved it and felt lots could be done with it.

The sound of the web with the dewdrops on Soundcloud is from :19 to :30 on the Soundcloud track. The whole photo is played by Photosounder over 1 minute from left to right. If you want to play notes, Photosounder will mask any notes you tell it to that are not whole tones.

Ahhh...Iris 2...the perfect VST compliment for Reason. I love it so. You can't, however, manipulate photos with it. I've pushed some Virtual Ans waveforms through it though. Good fun.

As for photo manipulation VST's, I've found that the free Harsh Digital Nose VST from Insert Piz Here is good. You can combine two photos as oscillators with that, and manipulate the spectra from there. 64 bit, got it running in Reason now. Cheers!

Its currently on sale for less than 30 bucks: https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... otosounder

Nothing fancy happened to this tool in the last years and it seems, there is some rewrite in the background happening. I could not find any info about VST support.

No, but ImageLine HARMOR allows you to load images as well. Great synth.
