Hello, I just installed Reason 9 and I found VST plugins working somewhat slowly.
After disabling HyperThreading the DSP performance was improved. So far so good.

The other problem I found was very slow performance when opening VST Gui (for example Arturia Spark) and what really helped in my case was special NVidia 3D settings profile (I have GeForce GTX850M graphic card, Windows 10).

I think I found a way to slightly improve GUI editor rendering performance:
1. Find Nvidia Settings on your tray
2. Click Manage 3D settings
3. Add dedicated program setting pointing to Reason9 executable (reason.exe)
4. Select Nvidia as preferred graphics card if you have more than one
5. Switch all settings to performance mode (sacrificing UI quality)
6. Click apply

Now when you restart Reason new settings should be applied and in my case it gave me around 20% higher performance when GUI VST editor is open (in GPU intensive plugins)

"Bonus" - if you're using Waves plugins (in my case Waves Element 2) make sure "Threaded optimisation" is turned off. This is not only Reason specific. I had high CPU consumption in other DAWs as well.

I hope that somewhat helps.

Good information, thanks for the heads up. If you are a Reason user who does not own a high-end machine, these tips are absolutely necessary unfortunately. I'm still using Reaper w/ Reason to use my VSTs for now, as there's just no contest in terms of stability & CPU headroom.. but holy sh** do I look forward to the day that I can do all this in Reason alone. It's just this silly dream I have...One day! ;)
