Izotope RX doens't work within Reason (edited title)
Hey, I have edited the title of this topic but i think people should atleast know what i found out.
After not knowing how to use RX elements with Reason I sent a message to Izotope support (fast response on a saturday, very nice) but I thought id share the message I got
"Hello,
Thanks for reaching out to iZotope Customer Care. I’d be happy to assist with this.
As you know, Reason 9.5 introduced VST support for the first time in the DAW’s history. However, due to the software’s unique implementation of MIDI protocol, only the following pieces of iZotope software are supported for use in Reason 9.5 or later:
- Ozone 7
- Neutron
- VocalSynth**
Please note that MIDI Mode — using an external MIDI source to trigger VocalSynth’s vocoder — is not supported in Reason 9.5.
Unfortunately, any other iZotope products are not supported for use within Reason 9.5+. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance, and thank you for being an iZotope customer!"
So RX 6 is available in prop shop, but cant be used within Reason. Which is a shame since it seems to be a very good tool. I will probably get much use of it even if I have to bounce clips to disk to edit them and then import back to Reason.
I hope its ok I shared this support message, I just thought people should know that before making a big purchase.
I have Ozone 7 standard and I am very happy with it. I hope Propellerheads future updates enable more Izotope products to be used.
my original post below:
I just got elements when it was on sale and its installed and good. However! It comes with 4 basic plugins and they are all there in the list in Reason but I cant find a way to open the editor itself.
I can open it standalone but its not connected to Reason.
Any help appreciated, thanks!

Ok I have been googling like a mad man and finally found a chart with features over the versions, apparently elements dont have the "connect" feature so i cant use it in reason, only the plugs standalone by themselves. boo! Feels kinda cheap, its like a midi cable or something, connecting the two. oh well
weird u can see them if that is the case... click on vst logo when in rack

Sorry I was a bit missleading with what I wrote, I CAN use the modules in reason, add de-clip to a track for example and all that without trouble, BUT, I can't get the RX Editor to talk to Reason, that requires the "Connect" thingy which is like a virtual cable. But I dont wanna shell 200 more euros so it will have to do. Its not too big of a deal I will probably get alot of use but it would be nice to have that Connect feature so you get the whole visual feedback and select just small parts of a audio clip to edit certain things in detail. Now i have to export to RX editor, then export back instead of an integrated affair.
Cheers!
Cheers!
Pluginboutique has the Limited Free copy of RX7 Elements with every Purchase. and i read that it has an interenal sample editor. i thought to my self, well this would be a great replacement for the internal reason editor.
damn, its always good to check reasontalk befor getting stuff. Reading now that its not Supported inside Reason keeps me from buying anything to get RX7 Elements Free

Hi all
I have Reason 11 suite and Ozone 9 advanced, Neutron 3 advanced, Nectar 3, Tonal Balance Control 2 and RX7 elements. everything works perfect here, all its functions and interconnections.
but I clarify one thing. the RX7 editor is just standalone, for all DAWs, it's not a Reason problem, RX works like this.
the connect function is only compatible with Pro Tools, it is specified.
RX7 Elements only comes with 4 plugins.
I hope I have clarified the doubts.

Rx advanced here. As previous post suggests, it is meant to be standalone. Now if reason allowed for setting your own editor, it would for to Rx whenever you want to edit an audio file. Now, the connect thingy does work with Reason, but not entirely as expected. You can send audio to Rx, but can't send it automatically to Reason, you just refer the file from Rx to disk and import to Reason as any audio file. So it does kinda work just not at good as it would in another app. Either way, Rx is a standalone thing and that works great.arqui wrote: ↑14 Aug 2020Hi all

thanks for the clarification!
it would be soooo great to have the possibilty to link to another editor from inside reason. but i think it will not happen.
we can only hope that the internal "editor" gets an update some day, which i also doubt XD

Thanks for the info, I don't have RX7 advanced to verify it, there is no connect function in the elements version.PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑14 Aug 2020Rx advanced here. Yes, you insert the connect plugin on a track and it will record into Rx whatever plays, it is like a sort of audio recorder, you insert, play, remove, and then whatever passed through it, goes to Rx. You have to have Rx open the whole time you do this obviously. Then process on Rx, export, and bring back to Reason.arqui wrote: ↑14 Aug 2020Thanks for the info, I don't have RX7 advanced to verify it, there is no connect function in the elements version.PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑14 Aug 2020

Extremely expensive, standard is fine in most cases, I just needed the dialogue isolate and dialogue dereverb functions because of my day job so it was a good investment for me, but wait for a good sale of you go either standard or advanced!!!

There is no plugin for conenect, in RX7 elements, a shame ... if I'm going to wait for an offer, I'm sure I'll go for the standard one ...

I'm having a hard time following this thread that was brought back from the dead. It says the title has been edited, but the title is clearly wrong.
I have RS Standard. I got it as soon as Reason VST support was introduced. It works with Reason and always has.
Does the title need to be edited further?

I know this is an old thread but how do you get RX Connect to work? When I insert it on a track the Connect module opens but it just says "Capturing audio" and all options are greyed out.PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑14 Aug 2020Yes, you insert the connect plugin on a track and it will record into Rx whatever plays, it is like a sort of audio recorder, you insert, play, remove, and then whatever passed through it, goes to Rx. And rightly so. Izotope Rx is standalone!
it would be like claiming to have running inside Reason Wavelab, audition or Sound Forge

If I load RX Connect through Patchwork as a VST 3 I can highlight the Reference or Repair buttons but there is no way for me to send audio to RX. Any help would be greatly appreciated!TrueStory wrote: ↑31 Dec 2020I know this is an old thread but how do you get RX Connect to work? I think you just need to play audio and it will record it. I can't remember exactly but I think that after you remove the plugin, Rx opens up with the recording. I might be wing and you may need to have Rx open. I haven't done this in ages. It definitely works though.TrueStory wrote: ↑31 Dec 2020I know this is an old thread but how do you get RX Connect to work? I finally got it to work somehow. I'm still not sure exactly how I did it yet but you it turns out you were right about needing to have RX standalone open first and then loading an instance of RX Connect onto a Reason track like you said.PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑31 Dec 2020I think you just need to play audio and it will record it.
