VST through External MIDI Instrument?
Yes, it is!
If you are on Windows, use LoopMIDI https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html to send MIDI to Kontakt running standalone.
To record audio from Kontakt into Reason it depends on your audio interface. On WIndows you can use JackAdio http://jackaudio.org/
Both JackAudio and LoopMIDI are free software.
This was one way to use VSTs with Reason before 9.5. Another way is to use Rewire by doing the MIDI sequencing in the Rewire host DAW.

External MIDI Instrument only sends MIDI data out. What do you want to achieve?
If you have Kontakt running as VST inside of Reason, then no.
Better use 5 times Kontakt with only one sound in one VST.
