I think that's part of the Roland Cloud Subscription which is in Beta right now with a $19.95 a month which will go up to $29.95 a month when officially released.

Interesting, so the D50 works in Reason? Have to try that out.

The D-50 plugin works really nice in Reason and of the plugs they offer seems to be the most CPU friendly. Others have been proved to be "hogg-ish". Still used sparingly or bounced down to an audio track they are the most authentic devices you can experience which I would hope for from the same brand name. ;)

You need to be online to use the D50?

I was excited when I first saw this on youtube but then completely disappointed to find out it's a subscription. Roland can piss up a rope.

I have to adapt it in osx using blue audio patchwork since it is VST3.
It doesnt show up in my vst plugins list.

How did you do to it show up, since it is not vst 2.4?

Anyone using D-50 could you hit the patch button that is supposed to open up the full editor, on my system it only shows the very top line of the editor, no apparent way to show the rest?

Ok scrap that, if you take the zoom off it looks normal, just tiny :-)

That's the thing you guys still haven't gotten on about (you've done waves quite well) ....

Subs.

But I digress, I'm sure it's a lovely synth but I don't want to sub. I sub my gym(s) (long story) and my dumb-ass phone/music streaming

I won't do subs either. Got Korg M1 vst for $25. Not going to put out $30 a month for 1 synth that I want.

I think Roland's idea of a subscription based VST at those prices is pretty bold. $30 a month?! I pay half of that for Netflix and I use it all the time. I can't see any sane person (no offense to OP of course) paying that amount on a consistent basis. I get it, maybe for a month or so to kind of rent the thing, but you'd pay $360 a year to do this. Pretty steep.

I say that consumers stick together and fight this subscription BS. Boycott subscription software whenever you can. I Use Photoshop all the time and have a legit copy of CS6. Will never pay for a subscription to Photoshop and will use CS6 till it don't work no more then switch to GIMP.

Arturia will get my money long before Roland will.

I fully agree on boycotting software subscriptions. I boycotted Roland entirely because they are overpriced and an insult to the 303. This isn't to say the plug-in mentioned here isn't great; I'm sure it is. GIMP installed.

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, we didn't have enough sub-hate here yet

Now, to pull out my troll-face

I don't hate them so much. I mean, bitwig kinda has one-ish (I love my bitwig) and slate has one that shouldn't be ignored, but then I again I can understand why people don't like it. To me (on topic) it seems "niche" to have a roland one.

I too will resist subscription software til the last.
Affinity Photo is a lovely modern alternative to GIMP.

Even as subscriptions go, $29.95 is a huge sum for niche VSTs by one company.
