No prob i've only been using it for a week now. They have some other voice banks in development but only one seems interesting is Leona. But i don't know much about it.. its kind of tricky navigating the website with out translating it. And i dunno but i hope i can find another voice other than Alys even though she's nice.. :)

That's why I posted the link above. The original voicebank is available through the wayback machine. It's one more to play with anyhow.

Vocaloid sounds great, just listen

In contrast, UTAU gives you the freedom to create your own voices.
I tried to use UTAU but the software (it is free) only comes in Japanese (so I couldn't read any button or menu on the screen).

I'm bumbing this thread to ask a question. Does Vocaloid work as a VST instrument? It seems like a standalone application... The Yamaha website only talks about a version that works with Cubase...

And, if it can work as a VST instrument, anyone tried it in Reason? :D

There are some Vocaloid songs that sound pretty fantastic. Not generally likely to be mistaken for a human performer with the current tech, but great and expressive in their own ways if you can embrace their artificiality. I love how they've enabled a generation of bedroom producers to create all sorts of weird and wonderful pop music.

KVR suggests it can run as a VSTi, so I'd assume it should be able to run in Reason.

Mac users like me are left out in the cold, though, it seems. There's no Mac VST version of Vocaloid Editor 4, only a Cubase-specific addon. "Piapro Studio" is cross-platform and can run a limited subset of vocaloid banks in a VST host, though, so there's at least that.

I use the Piapro Studio VST inside Reason and in general it works. I use a 3dr party Vocaloid voice inside Piapro Studio and a s far as I know, nearly every voice can be used inside this VST http://vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/Piapro_Studio

Piapro Studio has its own sequencer window where you can edit one ore more voicee tracks for the actual song. You cannot run more than one VST in one song. I encountered one thing: If the tempo in the VST window differs from the tempo in Reason, the tempo of the VST window will override the tempo in Reason after loading the song in Reason.

My workflow: Usually when I'm done with voice sequencing I bounce the Vocaloid voices to audio tracks and deactivate the VST. I also recommend putting Reason's transport controls (start, stop, jump to locator, ...) on a MIDI controller because when the VST window is on focus you can't use the computer keyboard to control the transport functions.

So, happy voicing :puf_wink:

One thing to mention on Piapro Studio: You can't record MIDI notes by playing, you have to draw the notes in.

I developed this a little further. the alterego plugin from plogue is pretty good, plus you can play it with midi.

Guys, check the AMERICAN voices of the IVONA text to speach.
I know it can't sing, but you can always pitch shift and time stretch it all or even use the different language voices.
The IVY and JUSTIN sound really good to me, even less artificial than vocaloid.
https://www.ivona.com/us/about-us/voice-portfolio/

I think I could do the sample pack with them, but they probably don't allow to re-sell the recorded voices as packs, I have to really check the license for it. For songs it should be fine.

Excuse me bumping this but I'm really eager to use these - and the weebier and kitschier sounding the better.

Alter-Ego is Ok but only has two voices and they aren't great. I like the look of Piapro Studio but for the life of me, I can't find a download/purchase link for it

Any help would be appreciated, and any other recommendations welcome (I'm on a mac using R10 btw)

Of the ones I've listened to, Megurine Luka seems like a good versatile choice. Her English sounds a lot better than Hatsune Miku's, though if you're looking for that sound then Miku might be exactly what you want.
