assign controller knobs to vst sofsynths?

OMG, im on fire with these vst's in reason. Finally i can use my signature sound Serum & VAllhalla plugins. Props to Propellerheads
Question:

With standard RE's i can assign controller knobs to parameters by right click and select.
For VST's this doesn't seem to work. How can i do this as simply as possible with VSTs?

I thought, this is what the "Remote" button in the top toolbar of the VST UI window is meant to be?
