With regards to Soft Clipping plugins, I was looking for something that gives me more control than the Mclass Limiter soft clip setting, in the PropShop we have the Gvxt GClip :re: which I was trialling when Vst support got announced. I wanted to know if you guys had an reccomendations regarding clippers. I have my eyes on Infected Mushroom Pusher since Waves have a huge sale on, but I have little knowledge about the clippers out there to be honest.

Simple trick: use EQ and volume before clipping to get more tones and control.

Clipping generates only ODD harmonics. Reason device capable of this:
  • Bipulse Shaper in Thor
    Soft Shaper in Thor
    Hard Clip Shaper in Thor
    Saturate Shaper in Thor
    Sine Shaper in Thor
OVDR of the Echo (love this one, very sweet tape-like)
Synchronous Dist 1 (like OVDR of The Echo but has a wider range) and Dist 2

To me, and I use A LOT, the best one
clipping sound I've been afford is the event horizon.
Is so warm, You tweak as your taste and is so analog, and it is at the same time a peak limiter.
I advice you that all stillwell plugins are valuable.

I hell can't wait to use it directly in Reason instead other host..

Good Marco! Sometimes we forget some little gems we have under our noses ...
Did you ever try Event Horizon by Stillwell audio?

Never tried Event Horizon by Stillwell audio. I tried so many things I stopped trying other things. I know what I want.

The Echo OVDR and Synchronous Dist 1 are best for tape imo. In Ableton I am using the Saturator device which is super killer. In Ableton I don't need something else.

I love simplicity though. With a few tools and imagination you can do everything.

When I say more control, I'm talking of the way the plugin clips. I generally want to catch rogue or large peaks that make the buss compressor work more than I want. So an ability to control the input, output, the flavour of the clipping (hard/ soft), and ceiling, and still not colour the sound too much within one plugin would be what I seek. Thank you for pointing out the tape settings on those other two Rack devices though.

Anyone used the Kazrog Clipper? http://kazrog.com/products/kclip/
