Watch Native Instruments page. Every year around Xmass they give away one of their plugins for free (i.e Supercharge, Replika).

Just installed Kontakt Player.

It installed 65MB worth of documentation in every language :? No option given.

I had to download an installer that installed another installer just to install the free 'Factory Selection' bank? Holy crap haha. Very odd. And the bank is really bad. But of course, I won't be using Kontakt for that, but figured it would be good for testing in the meantime. I had to create an account to install the bank. But while using it, it told me my demo ran out and it locked me out? I removed that instance and created a new one and it went away. Still says 'demo' while playing it though. Not sure what the problem is as Kontakt Player is free and the Factory Selection bank is free and it could only be installed using my login and that tedious Factory Selection bank installer process. What does it mean? Also, the interface is really fiddly. Can't browse the library as I would think using arrow keys.

Kontakt was at the top of my list and one of the exceptions I was going to make...thinking, "I can easily sync all my Rack Extensions on other computers and make an exception for installing Kontakt libraries separately." I contract work at many different locations, and have just been syncing Reason and my REs on those computers. It's so easy to install and easy to remove if the client wants me to. This makes me feel very uneasy about trying to work on projects using Kontakt elsewhere. Quite the nightmare.

Any tips on this? I'm having a hard time keeping track of the process and what the heck is being installed on my computer. And what has to remain on my computer... Are commercial Kontakt banks this much of a pain to install?

I think it would be worthwhile for just one more list/thread: "Hassle free VSTs (free and commercial)"
I'm interested in VSTs that are effortless to install and don't leave unnecessary crap all over the system. And they consistently work well.

For me will all the fullbucket synths I can only play the sounds when I have the patches visible, other than that it just is short segments of the sounds...
EDIT: Also Sound fine while turning any knob in the synths, but when i stop it just dont sound good... wierd...

I have the exact same problem with 3 of their instruments: blooo, deputy and nabla, and on another one that's not from Full Bucket: MauSynth10. They probably use some coding tricks that may or may not work depending on the host... This has been reported already.

That's actually pretty cool to know!Among other things I really dig that ReaJS:

Image
  • Realtime user-editable effect processor
  • 64-bit internal audio processing, MIDI support, full PDC support, multichannel I/O support, graphics display support.
  • Hundreds of included effects, including: delays, compressors, limiters, convolution, distortion, spectral noise editors, analyzers, loop samplers, creative effects.
  • Create new effects from scratch, or modify existing effects to meet your needs
  • JSFX editor and debugger included, opens automatically when you edit a plug-in
You can basically write your own plugin!

Here's an example of a builtin waveshaping tool coded in reajs which lets you to draw your distorion curve:

haha - yes. Did a so-so Combinator "imitation" based on Malström long time ago. But never brought it to public, because of using their original gfx without permission. Pity that this plugin has been abandoned.

Thanks for the link...this one is a really good plugin and sounds fat...like I would expect from a Roland synth.
Tried the pure saw on two oscillators...no effects...nothing...and the same setting with Antidote...had to
add a bit of drift and some random modulation on one osc via matrix to get close...but not really the same.
Can`t wait to try it inside Reason (-;

Are the oscillators on the original JX8P free running?

Here some other links:

Some effect plugins...unfortunatelly only VST32...but quite good

I don't know, but most 80s DCOs usually only had one clock, meaning that even if the clock was free running the oscillators were always in phase with each other.

That's pretty bad ass - thanks for sharing that! This is supposed to be a Roland JX8'Ps PG-800, right? Would be awesome if it actually came with the JX8P's factory soundbanks.

Not really freeware, but getting an issue of CM magazine, via GooglePlay for example, lets you get access to CM's download vault, including their CM plug-in series. There are some great gadgets in there, like u-he BazilleCM or Vengeance Producer Suite Scope (great analyzing tool). Some of them are 32bit only, but they are nicely categorized into folders and most of the stuff is x64.
