I'm aware that Reason works on Windows too... (at the moment even better than on Macs, but that's an other story) But for me (as I'm on a Mac) that is not too useful... ;)

32bit VSTs in a 64 bit DAW uses more CPU. Sonar, FL Studio, and Reaper allow 32 bit in their 64 bit versions. There is also a paid for app called Bit Bridge. Running 32 bit VSTs is not worth the effort.

Not worth the effort, anything's worth the effort if there's a cetain plug-in you really want to use in your daw.

So will that app work with Reason 9.5 when it comes out d'you know?

Kinda done with buying vsts after getting more comfy with rack extensions, but it's nice for legacy plugins to be supported natively

Airwindows: This guy should work for Props. His plugs are 'by ear'. Zero fancy GUI-ness. Move the sliders until you get the sound you want. His latest is a free Tape sim. The link is in bold under the Youtube video preview screen. IronOxide5.

Limiter n6, if no one else mentioned it. It's got a bit of a learning curve but it sounds great.

Roth Air has quickly become one of my favorite free VSTs. it's like a combination of exciter + high-end compressor to really bring out the smooth highs in any sound. and it's a super simple interface.

Yep = I've got old-tastic 32bit plugs that weren't dev'd to 64 and you will never pry them from my cold, slightly nerdy fingers! :ugeek:

It will be my aim to continue using them. Honestly though, I've got sooo mnay darn hours using these products, I just have to say = While he may be correct that using 32bit in a 64 environment uses more CPU, it's never ever been a noticeable issue for me and I have to run 32's with 64's quite frequently.

Reapers been saving me in that regard for so long, I took it for granted.

Just a thought, but I think that maintaining a concise selection of instruments and effects in a range of categories might be much more helpful rather than pages of links.

Would be worth a blog post.

I support avasopht's idea. I didn't care about VST before. Now, I am spending a LOT of time on the web with this topic. I'll spend more time testing all these VST goodies. A structured way to list the different VST by categories, and most important, the feedback of the different VST testers between us wold be greatly welcome.
