A little neon from to underpin Arturia's strong 80s vibe. (The Synclavier-X is DEEP).

OK so now in addition to Pigments I have the V Collection X as well, it was too good to pass up for $149
That's me sorted for synths

For those getting the V Collection for the first time, don't disregard Analog Lab Pro. It's a super convenient way to access a shit-tone (if not all?) patches from most of the V collection instruments, all in one place.

I'm really intrigued by the Synclavier. The real thing was completely out of my reach back in the 80s, so it's always had a kind of mythical feel. Now I can explore its sound design architecture and get a better idea of how it worked (and what the hullabaloo was all about ). The concepts of 'partials' and 'frames' are pretty straightforward, but they do invite a different approach to sound design. I can't say how close the V version is to the actual thing, but it has a strong visual element, the Partial Engine screen in particular.

It's a head scratcher that one. I've had a preliminary mess around with it, but definitely need to RTFM
The ones I'm loving straight out of the gate are primitive samplers - CMI and Emulator - and their Korg MS20 is a beast

The Fairlight even includes a nod to the legendary Page R of the original hardware.

The website indicates 32GB free space required for the synths, and 8GB for the effects. But you don't have to install everything at once, you can install whichever ones you want.
The actual plugins (AU, VST2 or VST3) are about 60MB each, whether synths or effects. The standalone synth apps are about 45MB each. The libraries are in the range of 150MB to 1.2GB (that's the size of the Sample library, so far. I've only installed 18 of the synths).
With all the fx minus 3... all instruments, and some sound banks > the size comes to just under 60gb for me.
Note> seven of the instruments on my computer, have a few versions installed... earlier and newer versions as I upgraded through the years. I guess I should really remove the redundant ones now.
So it is slightly smaller in size if you install the current ones only.
FX are generally small in size. Hope that helps.

I noticed you have Arturia's SQ80 V synth. One of the very nice things about this VST is that you can load in thousands of patches that people have created over the years.huggermugger wrote: ↑12 Nov 2024A little neon from to underpin Arturia's strong 80s vibe. (The Synclavier-X is DEEP).

"ENSONIQ - SQ80 V - ULTIMATE PATCHES PACK - 4,500 PATCHES !
Arturia released the SQ80 V synth VST in 2022 which is based on the 1980’s Ensoniq SQ-80 hardware version. This instrument comes packed with presets, and old .syx patches from the original Ensoniq SQ-80 can be installed as well. Over decades, people have been creating and collecting thousands of these patches from all over the internet. While you can download them from various web sites, it is quite labour intensive.
We've made the whole process of installation take minutes instead of hours by creating the proper folders and removing duplicate patches. You can download the entire contents, including instructions, for both Mac and PC."

I just downloaded these to see if I had them. I now remember thanking you for them, and I thank you once more. When checking if I indeed had them I noticed this anomaly in presets> 2 folders of factory presets with a slight variation of the name of the synth. When I open the current version of the synth, the two banks in the oddly name folder, do indeed show up in the banks, but don't appear to be in the proper folder for them to show up. It must have been one of the synth updates that happened through the years. All other presets> your banks and others, all live in the 2nd folder. Scratching my head on this Now I am nervous to delete previous versions that got updated. I guess I will have to check the preset banks of any I delete to see if this happened on any other devices. Deletion of an older version might possibly delete banks from a previous version that show up in the current versions. They updated their devices often through the years. It would be nice to be able to delete older versions not in use to clear up drive space.StephenHutchinson wrote: ↑16 Nov 2024You can easily download the "SQ80 V - ULTIMATE PATCHES PACK" from my web site here

Hmmmm??? I just checked one of the updated synths. It appears a few of them are extra banks I purchased.
Any thoughts on this

Hi moneykube, I hope all is well with you these days. It has been awhile.
I had a look in my Arturia folders and yes there seems to be two different SQ80s… The only way I can figure it is that when I went into the Analog Lab Store and got some free packs, which contain SQ80 stuff it somehow created the “SQ-80V” for those.
The “SQ80 V” on the other hand has all the factory and User presets (including the 4,500 sysex patches.)
I’m guessing that free and purchased patches end up in the other folder to separate them from the main folder, hence the naming convention.
I’m not sure about what happens when Arturia updates a synth and if there are duplicates. In my experience, I haven’t encountered anything akin to what you’re experiencing. I checked both “Dust Materials” and “Raw Machinery” and the patches are all there without any duplicates. It is a total mystery to me, my friend.

Things are going the best they can while we deal with some family health issues and other life issues. Hope you are doing well.
It just all seemed strange because there are extra banks in earlier and later versions purchased and or free... I image I can consolidate them in the new version's folder to be sure (after a back up)> and / or ask Arturia about it... I never really noticed this until today. I am glad I did not jump on the deletion of older versions before finding out this mystery exists. I always keep the old extra bank installers but I might have missed a few. I would not have noticed this had you not offered up the patches again... so thanks for doing that bro

How do you get the plugin to see the patches? I've downloaded them but the synth can't find them (Mac OS)StephenHutchinson wrote: ↑16 Nov 2024I noticed you have Arturia's SQ80 V synth. Arturia products on sale are a no-brainer.
I've had the V-Collection and FX Collection for several years now and they are the best VSTs I've ever used (their easy install/authorization is a bonus). Combined with Superior Drummer, my VST GAS is 100% satisfied. With Reason's devices adding their own flavors on top of that, I don't think I'll ever shop for software instruments/fx again. Once I bought into the Arturia collections, I ditched all the other VST crap I had accumulated over the years (including a ton of pirated stuff) and I don't miss any of it.
The Keystep Pro is also fantastic, but it's wild to me they haven't released a full-sized/more powerful version. If/when they do, that'll most likely be an insta-buy from me.

I own Pigments, Analog Lab Pro, a Minifuse 1. Right now I have an offer for $69 for the FX bundle and $169 for V Collections. Is there a purchase order that will give me the biggest savings? FX -> V Collection or V-Collection -> FX?
I'm not sure it works like that - at the beginning of the sale I checked the prices on my account and it was Pigments $69, V Collection $149 and FX Collection $49. Bought Pigments, checked the prices on the others again and they hadn't changed. Then I bought V Collection X, checked FX Collection price and it hadn't changed. Finally bought FX Collection for the $49Chi-Individual wrote: ↑20 Nov 2024I own Pigments, Analog Lab Pro, a Minifuse 1. Right now I have an offer for $69 for the FX bundle and $169 for V Collections. After i bought FX-collection, V-Collection was only 99 , and Pigments 49.
If you'd bought the FX bundle first it'd have taken the V Collection down to €99. After buying the V Collection Pigments would have been €49. I'd write to them.dvdrtldg wrote: ↑YesterdayI'm not sure it works like that - at the beginning of the sale I checked the prices on my account and it was Pigments $69, V Collection $149 and FX Collection $49. I'll definitely be getting in touch with them. Is that pricing info easily available or visible on their website?
