Today, the latest Release Notes for the Reason 11.3 Update states that if you have any VST 2.0s installed, Reason will respect that and not load the VST 3.0 versions. https://www.reasonstudios.com/en/reason ... ease-notes

So how do I go about removing any VST 2.0 that Reason has loaded and make it utilize the VST 3.0 versions instead?

Most of my VSTs are installed as both 2.0 and 3.0 on my computer. I just added the "VST3" folder to the "VST Plugin Folders" under "Advanced" in Reason (see image). I'm on Mac. Any insights appreciated. Thanks!

If you are talking about this:
Installing VST3, AU and AAX plugins are now optional in the Reason installer (Please note: in any auto-update after Reason 11.3, Reason will respect which plugin formats you have installed)
It means that when you install Reason it will ask which version of the Rack Plugin you wish to install. Reason still doesn`t support VST3!

Thanks! Does anyone know if they plan to support VST3 plugins inside Reason eventually?

I would say they have to. The question to me is if it fits in the lifecycle of 11 or it will be pushed to 12. Who knows 9.5 added VST 2 as the last update AFAIK. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Some plugins are now VST3 only so, yes, RS will have to add that support sooner or later. Then we can run Reason inside Reason and confuse the hell out of ourselves.

Its a well kept secret together with the plan for VST midi out and RRP VST hosting. My guess is the GUI is being worked on, they hinted that. So October maybe for GUI.

Then VST upgrades to match DAW competitors in March of 2021.

This lateness comes with a risk though, I might be 90% Cubase by then, and if social media is any guide, other people are switching as well.

I hope they will speed it up and communicate if/when the VST stuff comes before too many leave.

They would just code something into Reason I'd expect to recognise the loading of the RRP and disallow it. Too confusing lol!

You can load the FL Studio plugin into the FL Studio plugin. Utterly pointless but you can do it.
