Synapse Dune 2 on sale

I wanted upgrade Dune 1 to Dune 2 on last week, but Richard answered me and suggested waiting for Dune 3. So it will be soon.

Apparently Dune 3 is supposed to be released by the end of this month!

It''ll never happen. That said, you should check out the VST. It's amazing. Also, Reason's browser actually works with Dune 2 (and 3) presets, so the integration is pretty cool.

I had already started on a rating of Dune 2 before this sale appeared (spoiler alert: It's the highest rated instrument I've tested so far.)

I suspect that were you to get Dune 2 now at the reduced price, that there will be a discounted upgrade to 3 and the combined cost would likely be less than buying 3 outright. I doubt the combined cost would be higher. Dune 2 was a whole new VI from Dune, so it wasn't, strictly speaking, and upgrade. What I'm not clear on is whether 3 will be an upgrade or a whole new VI. The fact that Dune 2 patches will be compatible leads to believe Dune 2 users who choose to upgrade (at whatever the upgrade cost is) will end up with 2 becoming 3, rather than having both 2 AND 3.

Thanks for the info in this thread. I was looking for a new Synth to buy and the comments in thread have made up my mind. I am a huge fan of the Legend and VK-2.

It's only being offered to current registered owners of Dune 2 in their accounts (currently).

Oh well I should have got Dune 1 while it was still cheap. They weren't quite transparent about the upgrade path.

Was really considering whether to upgrade v2 to v3 or instead get Hive or Viper, but went with the upgrade - it's the cheapest option of the three and Dune really sounds awesome: smooth, lush, creamy, punchy when needed. Love it!

I already have 2 FM synths in Reason's rack (PX7 and FM4), so I'm leaning more towards the latter

That's tough... I own Zero, so I'm partial to it. I never tried Resonans.

Thanks, I already have AAS' Modelling Bundle but don't use VSTs in Reason

I'm aware Resonans is like a little brother compared to Chromaphone, but well - there's nothing else of this kind in RE format AFAIK.

I'm not so much into "physical modelling" just like the things that sound strange, different, a bit "off". Like that one track of mine, where some were asking if I recorded the guitar myself, when in reality it was a simple sequence played with Live 9 Suite's Tension made by AAS for Ableton

In the VST world there is also Image Line Sakura. Very pretty and easy to program and has good sonic capability. On sale it has been $49.
