Sequencer bug fixes and improvements

• Double-clicking outside a Clip in Edit Area now add notes instead of creating a empty Clip
• Edit Area now correctly zooms to all selected MIDI clips when opening Edit Area with “Enter”
• It’s now possible to type in the largest values in Note Tools and Edit Area Inspector
• Velocity value no longer cycles back to zero after raising the Velocity to max
• Velocity max value can no longer be more than 127
• Note Tools dialogs now stay on screen when clicking outside the dialog
• Note Tools dialogs now remember position on screen
• Note Tools dialogs now respect keyboard focus area
• Fixed an error when using the "Split Clips at Song Position" function while in Blocks mode

Potential 13.2 Issue?

Hello. I just installed reason 13.2 on my mac M3 Max. Running Sonoma 14.6.1

I opened one of my songs and the samples that I used in the NN-Nano sampler in Kong are no longer there. The sampler is there, the midi note lane is there, the routing are there. But the samples are missing.

I have observed this same issue with two separate songs after the 13.2 upgrade. The samples are not loading into NN-Nano in Kong when I open a song.

It may be that I need to redirect NN-Nano to the samples I used because it doesn't see the old directory for the samples. However, I do not know the name/location of each sample I used for a song. It's many many samples.

Can I downgrade to the previous version to see if this fixes the issue?

Anyone else having this issue?

Update (1hr after original post): It seems the problem is worse than initially realized. I opened a saved songand Nano samples did not load in Kong, as noted above. I then replaced the missing samples with new samples in the Nano sampler in Kong and saved the song. I closed and reopened Reason 13.2 and re-opened the song with the newly saved samples in the Nano sampler in Kong. And the samples did not load in the Nano sampler.
So this does not appear to affect only previously saved songs, but also new songs.

It's possible this issue is limited to my setup.
But given the clear connection between installing the upgrade and the subsequent issue with the Nano sampler in Kong, I urge you to tread cautiously with the 13.2 update if you use the Nano sampler in Kong.

I will also note that if this is an issue with the 13.2 update, this is the first major issue that I have run into with a Reason upgrade in many years.

Thanks for this response. It's good to know that I am not the only one. But I am sorry that you are dealing with this too.

Regarding rolling back to 13.1, thank you for mentioning using backups. I have TimeMachine BUs so I can restore to Reason 13.1 using that, and I can also restore my song files that way too. I've restored song files using TimeMachine, but not an entire application directory. But it should work just fine.

With a bit of effort I was able to rollback to Reason 13.1 using my TimeMachine backups.

After restoring the app files with TimeMachine, I was unable to open the app and was getting a message that said "the files were damaged because they had an unknown download date."

After some trial and error, this is the workaround that works to override that error (from an Apple Help pop-up):

Open an app by overriding security settings
You can open an app that isn’t allowed to open by manually overriding the settings in Privacy & Security Settings.
In the Finder on your Mac, locate the app you want to open.
Most apps can be found in the Applications folder.
Control-click the app icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu.
Click Open.
The app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you can open it in the future by double-clicking it, just as you can any authorized app.

When I did the above steps, I got to a dialogue box that asked if I wanted to override security settings for the app, I clicked yes and then the app opened without issue.

Well, I'm a proud Miserable Degenerate and decided to time mine as well at first launch. Hit CTRL+I immediately to open the browser and see the indexing start. It took a few seconds just shy of 18 minutes to re-scan/index all of my libraries (though I suspect this is a one-off thing). Browsing definitely seems zippier on my end now that the initial indexing completed.

When starting Reason 13.2, everything works fine before opening the browser. In the update, for some reason, it starts scanning folders every time the program is opened, and when scanning, the Reason interface starts to slow down. Not IF the browser is open, but AFTER the browser is opened (even if the browser is closed). As far as I understand, the indexing of folders in the browser is to blame for this. I tried deleting the cache so that Reason could recreate the cache files, but it didn't help. I would have attached the video, but the forum says that the file is too big.

I still couldn't find it on the Reason website. It is simply impossible to work in 13.2 with the current lags. Does anyone have an installer for version 13.1 ?

In the last few hours Reason Studios support has acknowledged the bug in 13.2 and has developed and issued a patch for beta testing.
They've also posted the download for 13.1, which I see that @stephenhutchinson & EnochLight have posted above.

And, as RobBarnett has noted, Reason Studios has posted the following recommendation:

I guess I hit the jackpot this time. My songs have the exact conditions that trigger the bug, per the Reason Studios recommendation: "NN-XT and Kong patches with multi-layer/layered samples don't load correctly. The result is that the samples are deleted after saving/reopening song files. The samples won't turn up in the missing sounds window either, they are just gone."

Thanks to this forum for getting me back up and running on 13.1 last night and to Reason Studios for acknowledging and working fast to fix the bug.

I am so deep in this Reason application, for the last 20 years, my whole creative process breaks down when I hit a Reason bug. Thankfully, this is the first time in 20 years that a Reason patch put me out of commission.

Hi Loque. Reason support asked me to participate in the beta test for this patch, but I am prepping for a show, so cannot afford any downtime now. I willstick with 13.1 for now and move to 13.2 after the show in April.
