I retired my Balance a month ago after meany happy years. Today I was in a second hand shop and saw this….

245€ for a piece of used abandoned hardware without current drivers is quite expensive imho. "Vintage audio gear tax" maybe?

EDIT: From the looks of it it also still has that bad rubber coating on which turns into a sticky mush. Ewww.

OK, that's a more realistic price. Still quite some work needed to clean it up to then have a nice design door stop or paper weight.

That was the weird thing. It wasn’t rubber like mine. It was a shiny hard black plastic. I didn’t know they existed. Unless someone has removed the rubber somehow.

Some of that stuff will still run in Windows if the driver was decent.

Some PC hardware companies still make legacy boards with PCI slots for people to use those RME Hammerfalls.

I still have a 10 year old system that has an M-Audio AP2496 using W7 drivers.

It's still capable of being a DAW unless you want to use 200 tracks and load each one with mastering plugins.
