I'm using the browser and finding a load of refills I'd forgotten about. Great stuff. But...say I find a refill and load a patch, I can't scroll through them any more using the arrows on the patch section of the instrument. Any reason for that?

You mean the Select Next Patch and Select Previous Patch buttons? Once things are indexed and I can see the content in the Browser, then yes, those work here. if things aren't yet indexed, such as newly installed devices, then currently I need to wait for indexing to complete. Are you sure you're in folder with patches to browse? Does the pop-up patch menu come up when clicking on the patch browse display? That also works here.

Yes, I mean the select next/ previous patch buttons. I open a refill from "My Computer/ Refill Folder" (for want of a better name). But once I've loaded a patch from the refill e.g a REX loop I can't scroll through the patches using the buttons.joeyluck wrote: ↑08 Jan 2025You mean the Select Next Patch and Select Previous Patch buttons? Actually...I think I've worked it out...maybe.
If I go into the refills through the Computer/ This PC/ route it doesn't work. But I go into the Refills shortcut I created then it does work. So maybe to do with indexing like you said Joey?
Edit: Just tried again and now it works both ways. Must be something to do with indexing. Guess I just have to wait a bit longer.
Thanks

I only navigate to patches from the main locations or folders I've added as shortcuts. My guess was going to be that if you want to scroll through patches, you'll want to navigate to shortcut locations rather than from the computer locations, but I just tested and I can also use those buttons after navigating to a few patches I have in my downloads folder. I'm on macOS.MrFigg wrote: ↑08 Jan 2025Yes, I mean the select next/ previous patch buttons. I open a refill from "My Computer/ Refill Folder" (for want of a better name). I had the same thing happen with polytone yesterday. Unable to browse patches using the up down arrows in polytone or within the browse. Day before it was working. I had to shut down and then restart 13 to get it to browse patches in polytone. Btw is it normal for the all folders spinning wheel to be running whenever I start reason and then whenever I open up a new song or template during that session? It doesn't spin for long, but it stops and starts the whole time I' m using reason. Sometimes it will cause a song to glitch out momentarily

How do you create a shortcut for your refills. Since you posted this I went to my refills location for the first time, at Computer/ This PC/ I can't open any of them up. They show up in the browser but it says something about them being found in another location and I need to delete them and start reason up again. This wasn't a problem in reason 12 or 11 suite. Can anyone shed some light onto what's happening with this.MrFigg wrote: ↑08 Jan 2025Actually...I think I've worked it out...maybe.

this happens every time I am selecting a patch.... whether I drag it into reason from my drive or use the browser... not sure what it is doing because the initial indexing had completed, Browser window should show exactly what folders are being scanned at the very least when it does this.WOO wrote: ↑08 Jan 2025I had the same thing happen with polytone yesterday. It spins longer for me currently... I hope it is shorter once the audio files are all in folders of a 1000 or less as mentioned by Selig.

to add to shortcuts> hit the plus button in browser shortcuts> select the folder or file. To remove >right click the shortcut and select delete. I have been dealing with this spinning wheels a lot as well sadly. The manual says it constantly scans. It would be better to scan only if file structure has changed imo. Highly annoying. But if you have the refill in two places this will happen... the behaviour for this was the same in earlier versions if you had duplicates. It would be nice to be able to put them in two places since some refills have a lot of one type of file and a lot of anther type of file... for instance files with rex and instrument patches... kong and redrum kits... and so on. A feature request for sure. Also some refills are for reason 10 on my other system and reason 12/13 on my main system yet I use the same external drive. The refills have the same name, but the graphics have been updated for later versions. So reason picks which one is the good refill for reason 13, and sometimes gets that choice wrong. Soundcells is one company that comes to mind that upgraded graphics to HD.WOO wrote: ↑08 Jan 2025How do you create a shortcut for your refills. I am hoping this solves my indexing issues ( but just hoping )... I'm still waiting for a response from support with solutionsselig wrote: ↑05 Jan 2025I’m not here to tell you how to organize your files, but I personally would never have single folders with thousands of files I might need to search for specific things (I’d have things somewhat organized in sub folders, as with my oversized sample library).Tiefflieger Rüdiger wrote: ↑05 Jan 2025I have around 25.000 impulse responses but cannot tag them with the Reason 13 browser because it seems to stop selecting more than 1000 files and it simply rejects selecting anything when pressing Ctrl+A in a list with more than 1000 files:
What a frustration!
Regarding startup indexing performance: maybe an option to disable automatic rescan for some big folders would help. What do you think?
I’m not excusing RS for not allowing this, but I also cannot imagine many folks have single folders containing that many individual files. For example, this never came up during testing.
Is the work around to tag them in groups of 1000, or is that ‘allowed’?

The thing with 1000 is that you can not select more than 1000 at once to tag them all. Nothing more.

I've gone ahead and marked this as solved—the patch browse buttons work after indexing. Closing this thread for now, so that we don't have redundancy and splintering of threads. Please feel free to continue commenting in the other threads about the Browser
