Is it interfering with playback or loading? Every time I open reason the spinning wheel denoting indexing (I assume) is constantly going. It once in a while will cause the playback of a song to glitch out. But if I hit stop and restart the song again it plays back normally. I just kind of ignore the spinning wheel at this point. I wonder if it is in fact still indexing and maybe the occasional glitching out of a song during playback may be because of a windows process running in the background on my computer.dan_g wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025same for me. nothing changed to my files or folders. still indexing altmost everytime i start reason up.rorystorm wrote: ↑07 Feb 2025much as I hate to pile on but every so often I start a new song, put a Kong in the rack, open the Browser to load a sample and boom, it just starts re-indexing even though nothing's changed in any of my folders. and it.....takes........FOR........EVER. Total creativity buzzkill and kinda weird. Happens probably every 2 weeks or so.
Just did it right then and I'm filling in the time batch it out here.
Anyway, it's finished now. Thank you for your attention.

most of the time its when i'm starting reason up. opening a song and then starting to browse samples (without any instrument selected). glitching does not happen to me when playing back the song.WOO wrote: ↑20 Feb 2025Is it interfering with playback or loading? Just one small change would be nice.
When you switch between INSTRUMENTS and EFFECTS in the left browser, the categories part change regarding the Tab you are on. (either instrument or effect).
Why don't Tags behave the same?
When I upgraded to 13 I tagged all my instruments the way it makes the most sense to me. Then I started to do it with my effects, And the tags for the instruments (which make no sense when selecting an effect) are also there just greyed out.
Separating tags by section (instrument, effect,...) would be a small, but definitely nice thing.
No one needs a tag about "analog synth emulation" in the EFFECT tab.
Just keep Tags separate like categories already are

Well, it may appear like visible Categories just change depending on the chosen Type, but that's not really the whole truth: What really happens is that the visible categories reflect which categories actually are in use for at least one device of that Type. For example:sQeetz wrote: ↑22 Feb 2025Just one small change would be nice.

If you select the category "Bass" and deselect the Type (so that all types are visible), you will notice that Bass is assigned to devices in Instruments, Effects and Players. You also have "Drums" and "Sequencer" that both map to devices in Instruments and Players. And from Reason 13.1 and onwards, you can now assign any category to any device you want. So if you for instance assign "Delay" to Note Echo, the Delay category will start showing up also when you browse for Players. So the display of Categories is more dynamic than it would seem at first sight.
For the Tags, we chose to leave all the buttons visible, and instead grey out the ones that don't correspond to any devices in the chosen Type(s). Why? It's because Tags are created by the user, and we found it to be jarring if you created a new Tag, only for it to disappear immediately (since it's not assigned to any devices yet). It would also be impossible to delete Tags that were no longer assigned to anything.
So that's the reason why all Tag buttons are always visible. I'm not saying that it couldn't be done in a better way (because I'm sure improvements could be made), I'm just explaining why it works the way it does right now.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. What would be nice then, would be a 'category editor'

Did you even read what I wrote? Because to the contrary, and very obviously, the exact thing I just said is what would make it worthless. And very obviously, logging the cause of crashes is only part of the reason it's there. And it's not the reason that Reason Studios gave it to me.

So since getting on to v13, I'm certainly not using it as much because I haven't got used to the browser.. Maybe there's other factors too, but I definitely find it a hindrance more than anything else so I don't tend to reach for Reason when I'm bored.

I have to agree.
Although in my case this is RRP mainly, but really there is less desire to choose it among other tools in VST collection than it was before, exactly because i know that will forced to wait 5-7 minute after load, untill normal using. So can forget to make RRP as workhorse fx. Not in current condition.

I've just started getting the empty patches thing out of nowhere. Was working fine, haven't changed anything. Now I'm in the Synchronous home folder and there's nothing.

I'm in the same position. Not Using even the RRP as much as I used to because of that. The new floating browser is annoying as shit. Please get rid of it and make it an additional tab in the left hand browser.
instruments | effects | utilities | players | EVERYTHING ELSE.... put the whole functionality of the floating browser in there
