Is anyone else having long wait times for the Reason 13.1 browser to resync everything on a Windows 10 machine?
I think that depends more on the size of the content being indexed and the types of disks (HDD/SDD, internal/external etc) being used than the OS.
The first scan can take a while (since we have updated the format in the index database we need to recreate it from scratch after the upgrade), but subsequent rescans should be much faster.
Ah I see, thanks for the information, much obliged. It took about 4 hours to finish, and I guess that's par for the course. My Windows 10 machine is somewhat fast but nowhere near my MacMini M1 which is about 10x faster at everything.

I like to think that we're kind of at the top of that hill, and even the fact that we got a couple of small sequencer improvements might suggest that they have a stable platform now to build on. If we can get auto chop and note preview on arrow nudge in .1, then why not...MIDI note chase in .2? Why not a new probability tab in the tools area in .3 or 5 or whatever?

THIS!!!!

I'm full of naive hope and childlike optimism lol it keeps me young ;)
Same!

Finally pulled the trigger on the upgrade. The discount was too good and I hate the tool window so much. The browser improvements look good.

I've definitely warmed to the browser. I would still love it if it had an audio wafeform view like Soundly, where you can highlight a portion of a longer piece of audio and drag just that part in to the timeline, or to a sampler. Any kind of seeking would be good for just previewing as well as some sounds take a while to get going. Also would love a shuffle results button, for finding hidden gems.

Yeah the upgrade is looking better but I'm still not even if the price is a more than reasonable one.

Nice update. But the rack still has those annoying black lines...will it ever be fixed?

I just wish the Browser's sample audio preview had a waveform that was scrubbable like - I dunno - literally every DAW browser under the sun that I can think of.

You can use Chop to Snap Value, or Grid, I forget what it's called! But yeah, that :) If you're on Mac I imagine you can set up a shortcut for that command so all you'd have to do is have your snap set to zoom, then zoom in and out and chop away without having to select different values manually
Noice this will come in handy. Always hated having to constantly change values before editing and mess about with zoom levels, it doesn't feel intuitive and is handled better in other software.
is more modern than what we had before
The modernisation of Reason has certainly been a bumpy road and I suspect a lot of thankless tasks have been done behind the scenes. I mean let's be honest there were parts of Reason which were a bit well Windows 95!

Anyway this looks a solid update, well done RS! The tag/favorite system looks to be pretty comprehensive and done right. The new chopping features are helpful. The Reason 13 update is much more enticing now.

I predict the wave of positivity will be short lived :D

Have there been any improvements in performance on older machines in R13?

So I upgraded for the winter sale price from R12. That's just a rootin tootin good deal.

One thing I hope they fix with another update (I'm sure its been mentioned)... In R12 I saved Init Presets (with the desired settings) for all the basic devices I use (rather than using the Right Click>Reset Device). In R13 it would be great flexibility to be able to store patches, samples, etc. in the Device Palette on the left AND tag them as needed.

I am still working on the R13 Browser workflow, but since the update with devices, chopping, and tagging system... The benefits outweigh the concerns.

Also, the fact that they listened to the feedback and provided a free point update... I'm in. Thank you.

Thanks. I also read that VST3's use less memory as well since a recent update?

Yes. I think this was already fixed in a update...

Not adding, at least as an option, the old file tree back will always be a deal breaker for me, and all this other stuff is no remedy. I use shortcuts to my often accessed folders and a few refills, but nothing beyond that. Don't use favorite lists, do a text based search maybe once a year and tags are just so far from how I think about my library or search for things. And I just don't like floating windows in general, it's a shockingly large part of the reason why I hardly ever use VSTs.

Have you tried the tree mode instead of the flat?

Does anyone know if you can use rewards points as a voucher for the currently reduced Reason update? I'm asking because the updates aren't listed in the rewards shop. I don't want to activate rewards points only to find out later that they aren't accepted. They expire after 2 months.
thanks

If it's not listed, you cannot buy it.

Fully agree!

LOL I've become quite the DAW whore these last few years, bought the Ableton Live Suite and started using Logic Pro in 2020. I wasn't going to upgrade to R13 until the upgrade price was too good to pass up. I'm out of practice with Reason TBH, but Polytone does sound amazing for analog and I'm sure Ripley will come in handy. Not sure about the new players, they look interesting though.

This is the one instance where slut shaming is acceptable.

Not sure how/if possible on Win but on Mac you can make custom shortcuts, so I made cmd+R to reset device to init, use it all the time now.

I did the same! I feel like this one should be built-in.
