You are making my point, daw's dont sound like nothing, the way people use the tools in them makes the difference.
It's not that it's affecting me, when I saw the ad, I thougth it was a stupid statement, but someone started a thread about it so I put in my 2 cents, with all the money I have given PH, I surely can say what I think.
When you say "sound less shit", less shit than what? Does Reason sounds less shit than Cubase or Ableton, do you go around saying my daw sounds lest shit than yours, no, you say, in my daw, I do this or that using this work flow, I that's why I love it.
I'm not affected by it, but it's one the most stupid marketing line I have read concerning a daw from a high level company. It means nothing.

Social media advertising is a desperate competition for attention. The wording was chosen to grab attention and drive clicks, nothing more.
Anyone who clicks through can read all about Reason's actual features.
It's clickbait, not a mission statement.

I've already said that I don't see the comment as comparing to other DAWs and saying other DAWs sound like shit. Have you never heard people say it?
It's a silly thing people say. It's a goal on a scale. You can "sound less shit" with any DAW, plugin, or piece of equipment doing any number of things. I don't think it needs to be taken so seriously.

I know people use the term "sound less shit" but NOT refering to a DAWjoeyluck wrote: ↑15 Dec 2024I've already said that I don't see the comment as comparing to other DAWs and saying other DAWs sound like shit. Have you never heard people say it?

It's how you use the tools, plugins, recording techniques, how you manipulate the parameters of your tools.
Saying "sounds less shit" refering to a DAW is stupid, using Reason doesn't make you "sound less shit".
If your music sounds like shit, changing daw's wont solve anything.
No professional daw's sounds like shit. Sounding less shit is often technical mixing/recording knowledge
You can say how do I make my guitars sound less shit. Because you can answer, well use a low cut filter, boost here or there, place a compressor here in the signal chain. place some reverb at the end and filter out the lows.
Example, they could of said:
A bass tutorial to "sound less shit", we will show some bass eq tips and tricks. or here's a plugin chain that makes you bass sound less shit
But not as an ad refering to a DAW. Saying use Reason to sound less shit is absolute nonsense.

Exactly, but what does that have to do with anything? This is “advertising”!mind2069 wrote: ↑15 Dec 2024I know people use the term "sound less shit" but NOT refering to a DAWjoeyluck wrote: ↑15 Dec 2024

I have to wonder if you’re tying to apply direct logic to advertising? Doesn’t work, stuff like this is meant to evoke a “feeling”, not necessarily to accurately and logically express a fact. How many synths advertise a limitless sound pallet, or only limited by your imagination?
How many audio gear ads use terms that are more emotional and don’t appear in the spec sheet, like ‘euphonic’ or ‘sound stage’ or ‘warmth’ and ‘depth’. There is no way to prove or disprove those terms, they are meant to evoke an emotional not logical response.
And “funny” is an emotional response, as is “angry” or even “annoyed”. Feels like they hit the target on all of the above IMO, depending on who you ask.
And if the ad means nothing at all to you, maybe it just means you are not the target audience?
Again, IMO it’s doing it’s job because folks are talking (here and elsewhere).

Some of this is valid when applied to a plugin like "warmth" could be applied to tape/saturation usually meaning shaving off some highs and boosting low's, it has meaning even if it's an emotional suggestions.
Applied to a daw, it's makes no sense unless the daw has built in (no optional) processing on the master bus or channels
"Sounds less shit" is a false and stupid statement when applied to a daw. It is as stupid as the Reason sound statement
I know it's advertising, so anything goes in advertising. Kudos to them if their sales went up. And they are surely allowed, since someone made a thread about, I simply started that I found it stupid but I still hope it's succesful cause I like Reason.
I rest my case on this one, it went on way to long
