Is there a clipper RE you all recommend? I have a limiter but want to explore the clipper approach as well. And I prefer a quality RE over VST.
Forgotten Waveshaper and GClip.

GClip is one of my favorites, but unfortunately it was removed from the shop.

Forgotten Waveshaper is excellent as well. It will be free beginning in Janurary, but I think it's a nice gesture during the sale to show the dev some love

Randomly found myself intrigued by Ekss SineSynth, so giving that a spin. No idea what I’m doing though.

Btw I really wish he categorised the patches in his REs.

What’s your best recommendation for controlling those random high transients like with drums but without ruining the sound? Best RE for that?

Has anyone bought a R+ sub through JRRshop?

It’s a fairly decent discount (95€) but I’m wondering how this works. I have subscribed in the past but currently running R13 perpetual. Will this give me a new licence or will this reactivate R+ on my current licence. I’m assuming the former.

An almost forgotten RE which works really well for this is DQ:

But the similarly named DEQ also does the job:

I've been looking at the Norns shield by Monome recently as a device for creating interesting soundscapes and melodic textures but then I all of a sudden remembered the Lectric Panda device Torsion which I never tried since it was quite expensive when it came out and I didn't have an immediate use for it. Gave it a spin yesterday and it was so much fun to tweak and play around with! Even though it has quite many parameters it's still pretty easy to fine-tune and the famous Panda randomizer really open things up. Gonna buy it with my 25€ reward voucher :)
Man, I miss when we regularly got new interesting REs like this one.

I bought a 1YR R+ sub from jrrshop last year for a great price, but haven't used it yet. What you receive is a code that you can later redeem on the RS site. I haven't used it yet because I still had time on my current sub, and I wasn't sure if RS would add time to my existing sub or start from when I claimed the code. I was too lazy to reach out to support and ask

That was brave of you. I guess it depends how many other non RS racks you have, and I have a lot so it would be annoying if it was a new licence. I’ll drop RS a message and I’ll let you know what they say.

Cool, it would be good to know. I also am heavily invested in the RE ecosystem, so I have a perpetual license as well (for v12, got a really good deal on it), but I'm still a R+ subscriber. I would never pay the full asking price for it, though.

I love Torsion, it's very underrated. A lot of people seem to think it's just a chaotic noise generator, but once you stop mashing the Randomize button and start doing some fine tweaking in tempo sync mode, the results can be amazing and very musical

Yeah exactly, I'm getting a lot of musical results and I spent hours yesterday evening just recording the output to an audio track and chopping it up to samples. With a lot of the Panda devices I think he showed too few examples of how to use them in the context of a song.

Heard back already. Good news!

“ If you buy a code for Reason+, then what you're paying for is a year's subscription to Reason+, rather than a licence. Subscribing to Reason+ won't impact your existing licence in any way, and it won't add a new licence to your account.

As an owner of a Reason 13 licence, you already have access to Reason 13, but as a subscriber, you'll be able to use all of the extra Reason Studios Rack Extensions included with a Reason+ subscription, and you'll be able to download and install all of the available Sound Packs, too.

And yes, you'll still be able to use all of the Rack Extensions that you already own.”

TLDR: You cannot stack R+ subscriptions -- any codes you have can only be applied one at a time.

----

That's good info. I should have been more clear in what I meant though -- I was wondering if you are a current R+ subscriber, and you redeem a new code while you have an active subscription if it adds time to your current sub, or if the clock restarts when you claim that code. In other words, if I have 3 months left on my current sub and I claim a new 1YR code, does the new code replace the current sub and I get 1YR starting from when I claim the code, or would I get 1YR added onto my current 3 months remaining for a total of 15 months now remaining on the sub. I am kind of surprised this isn't covered in a FAQ.

----

After writing this, I decided to investigate a little more and I see now that there is no way to do any kind of "coupon stacking" through the website (though it might be possible if you contact them directly). My current sub was claimed with a code that was good for six months, so right now I am on a monthly plan. My two available options are to cancel my monthly plan, or to convert to an annual plan. If I convert to an annual plan, it does let me put in a new coupon, but it cancels my current monthly plan (despite having time left on it) and converts me to the annual plan starting at the beginning of the next month.

So to get the full value of any R+ coupon/code, you must ride out the full subscription before claiming a new code. This has the disadvantage of not being able to time your subscription with black friday deals if you started a subscription with a code that is less than one year outside of the black friday (or may madness) window. On the other hand, as I have discovered, you can still buy an R+ subscription code when the prices are good, and then just apply it whenever your current subscription expires. I got a 1YR code from jrrshop last year for $67 (which makes the current sales seem not that great). Knowing now how it all works, I wish I had bought a couple codes from jrrshop when the price was that good.

And now back to your regularly-scheduled Black Friday discussions

Ah I see, I thought your issue was the same as mine and that’s all I enquired about, but good to know about non-stacking also.

Damn though, I thought 95€ was a good deal! Still, great to know you can just buy a few when super cheap and redeem when you need!

I renewed my R+ sub @ -40% ( it was -50% the last 3 BF sales )

Got Sylenth1 @ -50% ( after registering there are an additional 128 free Combinator patches to download )

And I took an annual sub for Macprovideo @ -87% ( the Reason vids haven't been updated in a while, but a lot of great other stuff in there )

Still not sure about the Arturia V collection @ -66%

Got a lot of awesome stuff:

FX & Utilities:
- Red Rock multiband stuff
- Kuassa Kratos 2
- Selig Gain, DeEsser and Leveler
- Polyvoks Filter
- Glitch effect
- Transient splitter
- Stereo Splitter

Synths (The presets sounded so good!):
- Amalgam for a 50€ voucher
- Luna

I also wrote d16 group and asked them if they'd ever release the rest of the effect and instrument devices like their 303 emulation as REs. But unfortunately no, it's too much work!

Morpher CV is awesome  I should try to use it more often.

It's a good amount to set up between the cabling and then dialing things in per macro. But after that, it's very fun to use. I wish the Combinator had something like Morpher built-in that I could program using devices in the combi container without having to first do the cabling.

Yes that would be nice.

Not used it yet, but yeah I can see it will be a bit fiddly to setup! I think I'm mainly going to use it to morph Europa bass patches.
