Is there any indication that the Reason 13 browser will be fixed to:
Show favorited VSTs or FXs or instruments?
Consistently show subfolders that exist on the hard drive?
I understand what they were going for - tagging for optimized searching is all the rage. But I seriously don't know how they can be proud of this new feature as-is.
Anyone else, or is it just me?
Is there any hope for the Reason 13 browser?

They've indicated that changes are coming in an update that would include restoring the Favourites feature, or something like it.

In my experience:
The initial implementation of the new browser was broken if you had even a moderately sized collection of files... It needed a bit more testing in real world conditions IMO before it was released. You could see the potential but it was borderline unusable to me.
The current implementation works very well and I am not finding it misses files or there is a delay scrolling through patches or any of those kinds of problems I was experiencing with the 13.0 release.
I have literally millions of files but they are all on very fast SSD drives, so other people's mileage may vary and if you are still having database type issues you have my sympathy.
I do miss the favorites. I don't understand why this was removed and if you have too many devices (like me) having them sorted into favorites was a really helpful way of finding them and I miss that every day and hope it comes back.
However, on the other side, the new Browser has led me to find and use things I'd forgotten I'd had or would never have found on my own.
So, in general, I would say at this point the new Browser is a plus from my perspective and if/when favorites returns my last quibble with it is gone.

Imho the browser would just need a few more fixes to be on par with the old one:
Adding these additional features would then make it next level:
Implementing it all would possibly take the whole R13 release cycle, but I think this would really advance Reason by quite a bit.
- Favourites and/or user definable tags for devices (including VSTs)
- turn it into an actual freely movable window (with the option to keep it in foreground so it can float on top of the Rack, mixer, or sequencer)
- (option to dock it for those who prefer it that way)
- coloured patch type icons (helps with quickly spotting if something is a .cmb or. repatch or ...)
- info columns for filesize, duration, modification date
Adding these additional features would then make it next level:
- user definable tags
- coloured waveform preview (like loopcloud has)
- key + BPM information and auto transpose on preview (like loopcloud)
- (AI or) audio fingerprint based search for similar sounds
- more tags (possibly structured as a tree as in loopcloud)
Implementing it all would possibly take the whole R13 release cycle, but I think this would really advance Reason by quite a bit.

I don't think devices will come back into the browser. They will stay in the device pane.
I didn't get this decision as many other users do. For me, now Reason has 2 browsers (plus file dialogs). I can only speculate that RS sees the device pane as some kind of tool window and not a browser, so they have split it.
And just to be clear, VST3 do have tags and RS said, they will do something to support the use case of the favorites, which most users used for categorizing and not for favorites...

I'm not having any problems with the browser everything is working as it should but I am using a Macbook Pro so maybe Reason doesn't work as well on PC's...

Yes, VST3 do have tags, but only those that the dev put there. Having the option to define custom tags would kind of be an OK alternative to favourites lists if you could also tag devices and have them shown when filtering for those tags.

I had some speed issues but they seem to have been fixed in the latest version. I am still finding it quite difficult to get used to the current browser cause it just obscures everything which goes against the way my brain wants to do things, however, now that I am using ADSR to audition samples and only using the Reason browser for synth patches, it's not too bad. What I think would be really good is if they simply offer a docked option. Keep the changes as they are, just a resizable left or right dock option with a resize bar. Shouldn't be too difficult.
