One of the great new features not listed with the new Device palette is the ability to browse and search all plugin categories together  Just de-select the categories.

Another improvement is that when toggling between categories in the Device palette, your search term in the text field will remain. So if you search for "Echobode", but then realize that you are in Instruments, you can select Effects and not have to type it again. Or as mentioned above, you can search across all categories.

And... We can now option-click in the Device palette to collapse/expand all

Also there's plenty of new shortcuts - and some previous shortcuts have changed. For example;

Ctrl-E now opens Browser, primed to create Effect
F9 opens/closes Editor window
Edit: I mean F8 closes the Editor window (sorry it's changed a few times!)

There's plenty of others which are now described in the context window itself

It's actually F8 that will open/close the Edit area and F9 is another way to open/close the Browser.

While I own R12, is there any way to try R13 for 30 days?

You can try it by subscribing to Reason+ (this will give you full access). If you haven't subscribed before, the first month is $1.

Or you can download it and run it in demo mode.
Reason 13: https://www.reasonstudios.com/download/reason13/
All versions: https://www.reasonstudios.com/en/reason/updates
More about demo mode here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7525554

In demo mode, you'll be able to check out the new features, but will have some limitations:
- no access to your purchased REs
- you can save but not open projects
- you can't export audio

Before you have a panic, the Gain Tool is listed as a utility not an effect. Don't be like me.

MIDI Clock

It’s now possible to send MIDI Clock to multiple MIDI Out ports
MIDI Clock sent from Reason is now more stable
Interesting. Wondering if we can send MIDI to multiple outputs other than clock  ................ about to find out.

I have Reason+ and I've just installed 13. After installing 13 I went to check that 12 is still working ok, but I'm getting an error message - ''Missing Resource. The application cannot start because a needed resource file is either missing or corrupt. Please reinstall the application.''

Before I run 12's installer I've messaged their Support to double-check that Reason+ users can have both 12 and 13 installed at the same time.

Has anyone else had this? Or are there R+ users on here that have both 12 and 13 installed now, with both of them working ok? Thanks.

Doesn't seem like much here for the RRP users to justify £199.

Ableton link? Hmm..
Are you not familiar?
https://www.ableton.com/en/link/

Reason has had Ableton Link support since Reason 9.1, but what it has lacked though is Start/Stop support, which it now finally has and is very handy.

Aside from just having apps in sync, whether it's different Reason projects on different machines, or syncing with mobile apps, it makes for a fun and immersive listening experience with devices/sound sources set up in different areas.

You could do that already with multiple MIDI out devices.

Hi! This is a bug we caught last minute, Reason 13 changes the shared resources that Reason 12 uses so the last installed version takes precedence. You can re-install Reason 12 at any time and it'll work fine. We're fixing this ASAP in a point update, sorry about that!

This one for example (it was still there in the last R13 Beta, so I guess nothing is changed) :

viewtopic.php?f=66&t=7527591

I use only the RRP and that is really annoying ...

Not a new bug .

Thanks Mattias. So I just reinstalled 12 and yes it's working again (but 13 has stopped working, with the same error). Once you have that bug fixed, am I right in thinking that R+ users can have both 12 and 13 installed simultaneously? Tho not open at the same time of course 🙂

For me as a R12 owner the main strength of this update appears to be the workflow changes. So I would like to try before I buy the update to make sure the changes work for me. How do I best go about trailing it? Edit: Joey answered this above. I'll try it in demo mode, thanks.

Hi, so, I've noticed that if I draw a clip in an automation lane and press enter, the clip opens in the sequencer view (which is fine) but there's no grid for the beat division - 16th, 8th or whatever. Plus if I have a note clip open in the edit view and open a controller to add automation, the grid doesn't appear in the controller clip and disappears from the note clip. When I hide the controller clip, the grid is still missing from the note clip until I close out of edit view and re-open it. Hopefully that makes sense.
