I changed my vote since I just did the upgrade,
While I still don't like the new browser, I hope for usability and sequencer improvements throughout Reason 13's lifespan.

Finally I upgraded for EUR 119,00 despite R13 shortcommings. I want them to survive. Hope RS invests the money well in some real improvements.
Changed vote form unsure to yes.

Guys, are you that gullible? After this R13 update, it should really be clear to everyone that none of the people responsible for product development are even remotely interested in any customer wishes.luckygreen wrote: ↑06 Sep 2024Finally I upgraded for EUR 119,00 despite R13 shortcommings. Finally open your narrow, little eyes and realize that even R14 will not bring the desired changes. More and more people are jumping ship and realizing this, just read through the forums and article comments on the web. Do not spend 119 euros to support their "survival".
You can't change what they don't want to change themselves. Unfortunately, everything is far too entrenched...

Kudos to the users content with the update and adjusting to the new workflow.
Has there been any browser favourite updates after reading "we are looking into a solution" on release?
As an example, can I favourite a RE Selig Gain and quickly drag an drop? (a device with no saveable patches) Its a 1 click and drag in R12 from my one of my many goto listed user folders.
A new roadmap revealing whats coming would be nice, especially given some of the feedback from concerned users here and on other sites. (Sound familiar?) After my experience with the R13 betas even at discount I am still hesitant to ~upgrade..
By the way you can change your vote^.
Edit: Oh almost forgot! apologies for not adding "jag bryr mig inte" to the poll..

I've bought the upgrade ( but still on R12). The browser is nice, but loosing the device organization does not feel like a upgrade. I'm very confident they will overcome this issue, so, I own now the r13 license and waiting for the next patch.

When they released vst support in Reason, they also said they would "look into it" when we asked about multi midi vst support and how many years ago was that? Has something happened?Neo wrote: ↑07 Sep 2024Kudos to the users content with the update and adjusting to the new workflow.

Just as usual, they sweep it under the rug and stick their heads in the sand and focus on futures no one has asked for...
So "look into it" means NOTHING to me when it comes from Reason Studios, I believe it when I see it.

I have the feeling, that it requires some bigger rewrite to support this. Same for MIDI2 or MPE. I think they are related and the current MIDI/note implementation is not flexible enough or can be easily expanded. Well, just guessing here...Marc Swing wrote: ↑08 Sep 2024When they released vst support in Reason, they also said they would "look into it" when we asked about multi midi vst support and how many years ago was that? And we all know there are tons of things need to be done in Reason... e.g. Tagging was a long requested feature too and now it is here...

Pretty sure I’ve decided against it now. Unless some other juicy feature comes mid cycle.
If something like Objekt was a native device id probably upgrade (I know it will never be included-and that’s a good thing), but I think I’m good for now.

The main sentiment on R13 release online seem to be disappointment and the little excitement that persist comes from being invested but starved enough that any little thing added, is seen as a god send. I dont have energy to engage in disappointment anymore, just ecpect the bare minimum. AGI DAWs will come at some point, where you can do whatever imagined, create instruments like never before. But not there yet and with better tools, we can already do much. Times ahead will be crucial for Reason Studios (they are not alone though), but would not be surprised if they find ways to adapt. What if could at some point train Ai to help programming and add features faster to Reason.
They still got 5-7 years left in current form. I do wish to see a catchup effect because I just really think the concept of Reason DAW is still too inspiring to give up. Hope they will keep making it essier for the users to do different complicated tasks, alongside implement folders etc, to ease up the organisation. The little task-oriented devices does make me hope it is a hint on more to follow, like when players came. I wish to see some more workflow betterments put into R13 in this version cycle than only bug fixes. But I do like what they have added so far and the changes in sequencer. I appreciate the work that has been started, I like the direction.

^Indeed
No VSTs was the clear message from the CEO back when (feel free to correct me), and yet we are here. I couldn't imagine props lasting without implementing support hey (v9.5?). Anyway..
I'm sure some users, including those workers coding away at reason HQ will share the same sentiments heard in this song..

I upgraded yesterday for € 119 to stay current on Win11. Even if I don't use it every week, it's important to me to have at least one reliable midi composer/daw on Win11 desktop and Surface Pro.
I'd like to see native integration with a (one) video track, more features/instruments/presets for classical music, integrated polyphonic sound blob editing (cooperation?), AI room tone removal.
A simple resizeable window with a visual representation of the beat. 4 .. 8 / 3 .. 6 old fashioned LED lights. Because not everybody uses a drum in their music.

Those of us who upgraded right away were rewarded with $100 vouchers to buy some RS products, and Objekt was what I got, so... it's native/included as far as I'm concerned.

Do we still (at least) get a €20 voucher for buying it in the Reason Shop?

I must say that I kinda lost interest in this update. History tells us that they will not fix or add to the features in an update. What You see is what You get. I don’t wish or hope any more. My money will only go tooIs that all ready works. will stay with my favourites in R12 and check out the competition. Bought FL Studio instead of R13 for me and my son. More bang for the money and even if I’m not a big fan of the FL work flow, I will learn.

Maybe RS should look at how their updates effect each user class and perhaps tweak their path forward.
Subsciption Class - You pretty much get everything from the get go.
Perpetual RRP Class - New Devices and Browser update.
Perpetual DAW - New Devices, Browser and Sequencer updates.
Obviously the subscritption is the way to go based on this model BUT it's a subscription and you all know what that means.
The above model usually translates to a very small transition of perpetual users to subscription users and heavily relys on new subsciptions.
Now lets talk about the update, to be perfectly honest, this should have really been 12.5 and free.
Don't get me wrong, I know they're in business to make money bui be honest, this really isn't a major upgrade it's a minor one at best.
I say this as a perpetual user, in my opinion the new devices are cool as always but it's nothing that wasn't already possible in R12 with a combinator.
The browser, you've got to be kidding me....lol? I understand the need for tagging...Bravo! but the new browser with its cuurent contraints is not an improvement in my opinion.
The old tool menu, F9 I think. It was basically just moved to the side, again hardly an improvement.
The sequencer was improved, finally. I'm sure I'm missing a few more improvements too.
Again don't get me wrong, RS puts out a quality product with excellent devices and worthy at every mention, their ideas and final product device design are excellent, AAA and worth of every cent.
But at the end of the day, perpetual users are going to evaluate the quality and amount of additions/changes to the program as a whole to decide whether or not it's worth it to them to upgrade.
The changes and additions in this upgrade as a whole and how it relates to the above classes, less subscriptions, in my opinion is hurting the sales of 13.
Again in my opinion, if they would only tweak their price model they would stand a better chance of retaining the current perpetual user base and possiblly expanding it.
If I were CEO, first thing I would do is get fired by changing the naming scheme of R13 to R12.5 and offering it as a free download....lol
Then I would refund all perpetual users who upgraded...then pack my bags and leave....lol
No seriously, my suggestion would really be to just offer a yearly renewal for all perpetual license holders.
Basically you would be on whatever version that is currently out until your subscription runs out and time to renew.
You would get everything a subsricption user gets but on an annual basis instead of their current upgrade path, the next release in a few years.
Problem solved, everyone happy?
I also have other ideas which can possibly increase the finacial viability of my favorite DAW but I will keep them to myself, my resume can be found on Linkdin...lol

Except the last version of Reason 12 is 12.7.4... So yeah, definitely well beyond a 12.5
