R12+ subscription for existing owners.
I've owned and paid for almost every version of reason since v2.0
Currently on R11 suite.
Is it true that if I wanted to subscribe to R12+ I have to pay the same price as someone who has never bought Reason?
What about if I upgraded to R12 but later wanted to have the benefits of + subscription, is it full price again?

Yes and Yes (unless the sub is on sale).
Yes. Owning Reason and RS' devices doesn't give you any discount for the R+Dave Beep wrote: ↑05 Feb 2024I've owned and paid for almost every version of reason since v2.0

Still, if you want to go R+ you can always sell your Reason license (you'll keep all the REs you've purchased).
And it goes on sale a couple of times a year. 50% off at Black Friday and Holiday season and at least 30% off in May.
That being said, RS should allow a 50% off permanently for license-owners. So you could hop on/off at half price whenever you want, without having to wait/check for sales.
Yes, R+ includes all of the REs in 11 Suite, 12 (Mimic) + all the new ones that were released since and will be released in the future.
So just looking at pricing now, ignoring the Reason Studios website as it's overpriced.
At Andrertons:
Reason 12 full: £189 (wow - less than the upgrade price I am being offered by Reason Studios)
Reason 12 upgrade: £169
Reason plus 1 year: £189
Based on this my best option is to buy R12 and sell my R11 suite license, right?

ebay - £8.99 for 6 month R+ subscription.
As far as I can see the only 6 month deal Reason have offered is as a bundle with some hardware, so assume someone selling those off. Seems legit? (I wouldn't discuss piracy, and only use legit software, but definitely up for finding legitimate deals seeing as how much money I have given to Reason / Props over the years.

1) it seems impossible for R12 full to be 189Dave Beep wrote: ↑11 Feb 2024So just looking at pricing now, ignoring the Reason Studios website as it's overpriced.

2) if you sell R11 Suite, you'll lose licenses for the 16 REs that come with Suite version on top of native stuff
EDIT: ok, I've checked it - it's indeed 189, not idea how that's possible; anyway, I'd still upgrade 11 Suite to 12 instead, because of those Suite licenses

Nice, although £8.99 for 6 months is even better for now!
Yeah you need to see if the updates in Reason 12 is worth the upgrade for you and if it is just wait until Black Friday or December-January. Some years if I'm not mistaken were even more than 50% off. I think some years back I upgraded from Reason 9 to 11 suite for only $90. I mean these prices are very reasonable especially if you make a lot of music and typically that cost will last at least a few years before you upgrade again
So I have 11 suite but also got a year of Reason+ for 50% off this past black friday. I could have either used that money to upgrade or get R+ but I didn't need the new features in R12
Now if something comes out in R13 that I really want then I will upgrade. This is probably the only thing I don't like about Reason because it doesn't have any coherence between the two models (perpetual license vs subscription).
What I mean is that, to make things simpler, Reason should just include everything in Reason+ in the specific version of Reason. For example, any updates within the SAME version would let you update for free if you are perpetual or subscriber. The only difference would be when the next version comes out, the subscriber updates as normal, while the perpetual user would have to buy upgrade license if they wanted.
Because now they have a disarray, maybe on purpose or not, but it makes the user hesitant about either model since one is missing elements that Reason+ has and the other is a subscription.

Huh? That's 53.94GBP for 6 months, which is equal to 67.75USD for 6 months, vs. 99USD for 12 months.Dave Beep wrote: ↑13 Feb 2024huggermugger wrote: ↑12 Feb 2024R12+ is on sale at Plugin Boutique. One year for $99.

If we'll get R13 this year (and I'm pretty confident we will) and it's not a disaster (which I hope it won't be) then upgrade discount is pretty much off the cards.tomusurp wrote: ↑13 Feb 2024Yeah you need to see if the updates in Reason 12 is worth the upgrade for you and if it is just wait until Black Friday or December-January. What OP might do, is try to target their purchase of R12 to be within one month before R13 release, which would likely give them the grace period free upgrade to R13. Their guess would be as good as any as to when that should be
Obviously that's on purpose! Why would anyone buy R+ if perpetual license got all the REs included in R+? And I can confidently "guarantee" you that we won't see any of the R+ REs (Objekt, Algoritm, Friktion, Chord Sequencer, Bassline Generator, BVX, etc.) added for free to R13. It would work against the value of R+
Maaaaaaaayyyyybbbeeee they'll throw in something that was part of the R11 Suite, but that's it.
Huh? £8.99 for 6 months is £8.99 for 6 months which is equivalent to $11.32 for 6 months Vs $99 for 12 months.
Idk what you are on about, or where you got £53.94 from.
Reason Studios doesn't sell 6 months and I've never seen support for reselling Reason+ subscriptions. I personally wouldn't buy from ebay. Or maybe check with support first.
I already confirmed where it came from.
Reason+ 6 month subscriptions were bundled with inta audio (m-audio) gear for a while, so this is someone selling off their licence received that way.
Understood. I'm just saying I'm not aware of the sale of it being supported officially. Kind of like that note on products "not labeled for retail sale". I think technically it is NFR? I've seen people buy bundled software separately and then lose it because the seller also sold the hardware it came with to someone else as "new" (which of course includes the bundled software). I guess it's not that big of a gamble for that price. Just pointing that out.
Oh, GBP 8.99 sounded fishy for total of 6 months, I thought you quoted a resulting per-month price Sorry

Like the original op bit miffed paying full price after years of loyalty
