Hello,
Can we use Europa as an effect? (like Thor)
For example, use Europa's Unison as an effect for another instrument.
Thanks
Use Europa as an effect
Since there are no external inputs, you can't use any of the audio FX. The Unison function is done at the oscillator level IIRC, duplicating and detuning/panning copies of the oscillator itself (in code), like all "supersaw" type "effects". It is not an audio effect added to the audio signal like a chorus or delay, it's actual additional audio sources being generated based on the settings of the other engine parameters. hope that makes sense.

I think Europa's Unison is better than the built-in Reason's Unison rack/effect. What is your idea?
They are two very different things, so I would say it’s a case of horses for courses.Mohammadyarahmad wrote: ↑05 Feb 2024Thanksselig wrote: ↑04 Feb 2024Since there are no external inputs, you can't use any of the audio FX. Europa uses actual oscillator copies to create the effect, the Unison effect uses delays (as do all effects creating this effect if I’m not mistaken). Euroapa’s voices have a static detune amount for each voice, Unison uses modulation to create the detuning effect. Another difference is that Europa creates the unison effect BEFORE the built in effects, thus the built in FX react to the unison sound. External unison effects would be applied to the output of an instrument, after any built in FX.
In short, Europa is stacking oscillators to create the effect (similar to ‘stacking/doubling’ instruments when recording or how a group sounds when all playing “unison”), the Unison effect is a modulated delay(s) creating the “copies”. One is actual “unison”, the other is an effect that attempts to recreate unison (which has it’s own qualities which work in certain cases IMO).

If I'm not mistaken, BV-X offers an additional unison effect which can be applied to incoming audio.
But if you're going to pay for a unison effect, there's probably better options (perhaps even free VSTs) that are worth checking out

in a combinator, you can make multiple instances of your device. Then pan and detune to taste. Sometimes I use the abbyroad Reels ADT for this as well. but everything that does can be built in reason.
Also worth noting, lkjb superspread plugin

Haas effects like the reason Echo with a very short delay and playing around with LFO amount and speed can give interesting results as well

When two versions of the same sound are presented separated by a sufficiently short time delay (below the listener's echo threshold), listeners perceive a single auditory event; its perceived spatial location is dominated by the location of the first-arriving sound

Excellent explanation!
The mod alters the length and the pitch by moving it up and down.
You could stack up 3 delays for example,
-a audio splitter after your synth
-first set to delay 1, delay set to 1ms,
-second set to delay 2, delay set to 8ms
-third set to delay 3, delay set to 16 ms
All connected to a mixer to blend each signal
-Set feedback to zero and all diffusion knobs to the right
and play with the mod and rate of each delay, you can get a really wide chorus sound this way.
One thing you got to be carefull though, when going to mono a chorus sound in most cases will sound thin and get back in the mix.
Sometimes this is what you wanted.. In case you want it in front of a mix:
-connect the output of the mixer again to a audio splitter.
-connect 1 pair to another mixer in stereo (so the left and the right channel)
-connect only left output to second channel of mixer (mono signal)
Blend to your taste and you got a more steady mono.
See attachment for example.
If you turn the mod env on the delay slightly to the right side you can tweak the detune a bit more
