The next image should logically be everything neatly folded in a bag, or two (bxbrkrz)

Here's the setup so far, showing one bag for the guitar. I have a bag for the table, and a backpack for the laptop, keyboard, and doohickeys. I'm getting a lightweight chair from Ikea also. Too busy with visitors for a few days to take a full photo.
I like how your guitar bag reminds me of a soft camo rifle 'case'

Congrats but... not sure why you just didn't pickup an Akai Force or MPC Live 2/One+ instead. Fully self-contained production machines (with plugins!), which would have kept you much more focused on music outside. Laptops are too much of a distraction IMHO.
I'm guessing because the those don't run Reason :D
Clearly, but this just hammers home - for me - how using an actual tool designed for the job is a much simpler approach. I kicked back and forth travelling with a laptop, audio interface, MIDI controller, mic, etc - just to run Reason as well, but decided that an Akai MPC Live II was a much better approach. Haven't looked back.

I still love Reason, and use it (primary at home), but outside and about, at the park, at the beach, in my hotel room - MPC just rules. But I also concede that people want to Reason where and when they can Reason, and that's totally cool as well.

Together with my Reason license I bought a cheap HP 15" laptop (EUR 800 which equals roughly USD 840) with really nice specs for that kind of money. Must have been early summer this year, May or June. I still had some legit Windows licenses, so no money wasted there. It has a decent 8-core, 16-thread AMD Ryzen 7 5800H CPU, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti laptop GPU for light gaming (sadly only 4GB VRAM), 16 GB RAM. Had to change the 512 GB NVMe-SSD for a 2TB one to store my samples. Runs perfectly fine with Reason 12 and some older games like Skyrim Special Edition. Even Horizon Zero Dawn with 60 frames if you lower the graphics settings
How long you could use your hp victus or wich model you have bought mobile? I‘m also looking to get a new notebook, as upgrade for my t440 i7 Thinkpad what runs 3hours on battery on low-medium CPU usage.

Second question, how performant is your new hip notebook with the latest reason benchmark?

Last question, could I still use this hp device via usb c PD Powerbank?

Nice regards from Frankfurt
Hi there

Right, it's a "Victus by HP 15-fb0475ng". I paid EUR 799,00. I think there is no comparison with an IBM / Lenovo Thinkpad. The HP Victus is a much cheaper price tier.

I can run around 2,5 h on battery. Haven't tried to shutdown every peripheral and run on ultra low CPU clock. It's essentially a gaming laptop and the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H is a bit thirsty. Mayby if I can shutdown the 3050 TI 4GB laptop GPU entirely and only use the iGPU of the Ryzen chip it would save more power.

You need to power the device via the included power brick with barrel jack. For the last four or five days I was playing "Days Gone", recently released DRM-free on gog.com, with stable 60 frames. I chose the graphics preset "Very High", but droped from QHD to FHD and made some minor adjustments here and there, you can't really tell, the game still looks gorgeous. It's pretty amazing to me to play that kind of game on an entry-level gaming laptop. But I guess HP wanted to make sure that no one is trying to power that thing via USB with a limited amount of current flow. So barrel plug only.

Reason benchmark? Can you provide me with a link?

edit:
in fact, it's a 3050 ti 4GB laptop GPU, not 3060

Thanks for your answer, Luckygreen I´m still really happy with my 2014 machine but I think slowly now the time comes to give it a update and
I will invest a bit more for a update of my T440p, in form of a Thinkpad or other Lenovo Ryzen 7840u machine at february next year, but it would be nice to know how much voices your new Victus could handle.

But it´s so crazy with the computer stuff, always get cheaper from february onwards

Including all the bags what is the total weight approximately?

The backpack filled with the laptop, keyboard, interface, cables, mic, etc., plus the guitar in a case, plus the table in a case and the Ikea chair totals 18.9 pounds (8.6 kg). Most weight is in the backpack, so I should be able to go a good distance. I turn 70 in January, so maybe not too far, but there are plenty of parking lots at the edges of the woods, fields, and beaches 20 miles south of San Francisco. Plus a one quart thermos filled with Mojito is less than a pound.

Oof. An MPC Live II is just 7.45 pounds (3.37 Kg) and that includes the speakers.

Yeah oof heavy I know that as well, but my Keyboardcase for Reason12 liveusage weights include Notebook and Fireface around 33pounds (15kg) and includes a 10channel mixer, rythm wolf drummachine, volca bass, keyboard, launchpad mk2, knob controller, midi splitter, fireface and a extra 22inch monitor, maybee mobile but not really usable in the in the envisaged case. Now plus 17,6 pounds (8,6kg) solargenerator and some cables and mics it´s becomes 50pounds. But i have to check this with a dare the next days when the generator arrives, so It´s a special case for my bicycle children trailer.

So hmm include guitar, mic and cables, that looks normal for sure for a music bagpack + instrument.

My notebook bagpack includes:
2,3kg t440p notebook
0,6kg 135w Power Supply
0,8kg RME Babyface
1kg Korg microkey 37
0,8kg Launchpad mk2
0,25kg Headphones
=5,75kg + 0,5kg cables + 0,2kg mics + 0,8kg mic stand
= 7kg include bagpack
= 8,15kg (17,6pounds-) whole bagpack

+ 3,8kg (6,6 pounds) exklusive stratocaster guitar incl softbag

Everything = 11,95kg (24,25 pounds) AUA my neck

Have a nice weekend and enjoy the time with your new stuff jfrichards ;)

Wow, the MPC Live 2 is really nice. I'm fully immersed in Reason 12, so I need to stick with it for composing and performing. From what I can hear among softwares, only the Spectrasonics stuff is better than Reason but the price is way over my budget, and if I work at it, I can come very close to any individual sound. But Spectrasonics cannot duplicate my guitar and bass tones and intricacies that Reason 12 with Kuassa amps does perfectly, especially Fender, Marshall and Markbass tones (using Cerberus for bass).

I mean, you're committed to a mobile Reason solution so what you chose was the best choice for you. I only mentioned the MPC Live 2 because I was once in a similar situation as you, but I chose to get away from the computer. For me, I longed for the days of standalone workstations that I used in the 80's and early 90's, but also wanted a mobile/portable solution, and the MPC Live 2 filled that void. As for Spectrasonics, well - they don't make a DAW, so even if you could afford it - they wouldn't be a proper replacement for Reason. I personally feel Spectrasonics stuff is overhyped, so much so that I bought Omnisphere and promptly sold it not even 5 or 6 months later.

Finally all my stuff arrived. Of course the temperature dropped 30 degrees. First nice day, I'm going outside to find a good spot in a local park to try it all out.
