Features
  • Reason Companion has replaced Authorizer for Rack Extension management. This applies to all Reason 12 users going forward. Rest in peace, Authorizer, you magnificent bastard!
  • New Remote maps for Korg nanoKey Studio and nanoKontrol Studio
  • Remote maps have been updated for Mackie Control, Extender, and Combo
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug where an Access Denied alert could appear in Reason Rack Plugin (AU) in Logic when updating Rack Extension licenses on Apple silicon
  • Fixed a bug where the Rack Navigator sometimes would show black boxes instead of devices (those were not really cool and edgy Dark Mode devices, sorry!)
  • Fixed a bug where Korg Triton VST3 could hang on Windows
  • Fixed a bug where VST3 plugins didn’t terminate correctly when deleting the last instance
  • Fixed a bug in the Combinator where the Target label remains after setting it to "No Target"
  • Improved error handling for macOS audio drivers

Now I'm curious to see a new roadmap, to know what we can still see happening in Reason 12 or possibly the announcement of a future Reason 13.
Personally I would like more news on future improvements to R12 than the announcement of an R13

Yay!

Does this mean no more 'sync all' button?

Does this mean that in the future, users of older versions will not be able to use Authorizer and will be disabled from online authorization (offline authorization, as we know, was removed earlier).

1) I've a lot of free and bad REs I regret I bought, so I don't want them installed when I click "Sync All". With Companion, I can easily "tick" those REs I want to install and start the process, instead of going one by one (I've bought lots of REs over the years)

2) Right now, when there's an update to RE you can't see it, unless someone kindly posts about it somewhere. With Companion it's easy to see what was updated.

Does this improve your workflow in any way?

When working in Reason on a daily basis - obviously not.

When installing Reason on new computer or updating REs - sure! I was formatting my computer couple of weeks back and I'd be super happy to have it then!

Although, even with old Authorizer it was much, MUCH easier to install 100+ REs, than 100+ VSTs from different developer websites, logins & passwords, authorization methods, plugin versions, installation paths, etc.

I was thinking the same. Look at the release date, it says "9 October 2023", but I'm sure I read the very same blogpost days ago already. That time I even checked for updates but nothing was found. I guess their CMS acts a bit weird lately.

Anyone else seeing false positives for RE updates in companion? So far, I'm getting update messages for some LeNote and Turn2on REs when companion is open while Reason is not running.

I don't see any option to 'tick' REs in companion.

Me neither, still I have to install my RE one by one to not get the ones I don't want.

Now they just need to implement the shop within companion so we can buy and trial all in one place!

I rather like the companion tool for managing reason and plugins. This is how most other software I have is managed.

and by that I mean why does they have to be in some seperate folder labeled as "propellerhead content" and not just be inside this companion like the rest of the stuff.
