Hey guys,

I apologize this has probably already been covered but I'm too stupid to understand it in any different threads..

Basically just want to tweak an effect separately from the dry signal.. so if i create a Kong track , record a snare drum and add a reverb plugin to it I want to then have control over the reverb separately... so I can further tweak it, pan it separately etc..

Send/return FX i guess.. if someone could just point out the best tutorial or explain the basics I'd really appreciate it.. cheers!

If it is only for the snare, ist it's output channels, split the signal to two different channels. Add the reverb to one of our, set to fill wet and assist levels.

Personally I prefer a Mixer14:4 in a Combinator.

Guess there are a lot of ways to do it, even with a parallel channel, as long as the snare is the only used instrument...

It should be noted any solution using Mix Channels means two things. For one, the signal is no longer compensated and has a forced 1 batch (64 samples) delay inserted. For another, solo no longer works as expected, meaning if you solo an instrument using a send effect you will no longer hear the send effect.

The solution is to use a combinator instead, with the SSL EQ/Dynamics (or whatever you prefer) devices for your EQ/Dynamics processing. This approach allows zero latency (assuming the plugins you choose are also zero latency) and allows you to use solo as before. It also keeps the mixer less cluttered since we can’t (yet) choose to hide any elements in Reason.

I did separate effects to the mix channels only when I needed effects sequences, for example, to send from main delay to main reverbs or when I experimented with rhythmic convolutions which have sends from each to each.. At the same time, 64 samples didnt care me. But I agree that this is not a completely legal way.
