Reason 12.5.0 Released (VST3)

• Reason can now host VST3 Instrument, Effect and Utility plug-ins
  • Updated Plugin Rack Device for VST3 and VST2
    • Indicates if the plugin is a VST2 or VST3
    • Increased the number of audio inputs to 16
    • Increased the number of audio outputs to 64
    • Sidechain inputs has moved on the back panel for easy access
  • VST2 and VST3 versions are now indicated in the device browser
  • Increased the max number of automatable parameters in both VST3 and VST2
  • Parameters are now grouped in automation lists and on the Plugin Rack Device (by the plug-in developer in VST3, if implemented, otherwise with generic grouping)
• Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 Remote codec updated
• New version of Monotone that fixes a bug where using Send to Track on a Player could cause a hung note
• New version of Mimic that fixes a bug where very short slices could play back more than single slice in Slice Mode
• Fixed an issue where Reason Rack Plugin could crash when loading a document in Bitwig
• Fixed a bug where the VST screenshot feature would not functioning properly when using two monitors
• Fixed a bug where the buttons were sometimes not accessible in save dialogs without resizing the window (Mac only)
• Fixed a crash that could appear when opening certain .rns files (Windows only)
• Fixed a bug where users couldn’t write to external exFAT disk (macOS Ventura only)

Really fun video, and excellent to see them showcasing Reason on its own, and the cool stuff you can do with CV.

Of course this functionality would be *awesome* in RRP too, but for now I kinda like that the only way you can get it is the DAW haha. Gonna download shortly, after I've seen to work emails!

This is known and fixed for the next point update. The VST3 categorization system is not quite foolproof and used differently by different developers. EFX Fragments was categorized under "Tools" which we interpreted as Utility after seeing that on other plugins, but we've since realized it's also common for effects. In the next (and all following) versions, anything internally categorized as Tools will be an effect in Reason.

Congratulations on release day! I'm really excited to have access to my Steinberg plugins (Padshop, Halionsonic) as well as Splice Bridge. Mostly though I'm gonna be making a new drum template with Superior 3; one where I don't have to compromise on the number of output channels! Well done guys, really looking forward to another year with my fav DAW <3

Anyone else having problem with opening VST* plugin windows with multi display configuration (Windows 10) ?

Having 4k hi-res monitor on the left (200% scaling) and HD monitor on the right. Plugin windows won't open on left monitor. If i move Reason main window to the right monitor, plugins open normally.

I have set my right monitor as the "main monitor" because of technical reasons - not sure if this is affecting it.

EDIT: setting my left monitor as the main one fixes the problem. Anyway, good to know that Reason (or maybe Windows) has problem with this specific configuration.

This is great news! I have a ton of VST3 plugins that I usually just don't use. Even with a workaround host plug like bluecat patchwork it's just too much hassle. But if VST3 plugins now appear in the browser alongside VST2, then that is great.

Damn 12.5 D29 not loading, months ago I moved reasons graphics cache on a different hdd of it´s huge amount off temp cache , could be this the problem, with 12.2.4 everything works fine.
Also after uninstall, new installation R12.5 not loading

I'm now using vst3 the korg wavestate plugin and i'm getting mad CPU spikes and pops.
Not sure how this translates to other plugins, but the cpu performance is changed.

This could be related to a hang bug in Reason. Try downloading latest version and manually install it.

What about installers which install all versions AAX, VST2 and VST3. Eg. Softube. Just delete the VST2 .dlls?

Hang bug, so your hint is, I have to install the last non vst Version Logue?
I just manualy installed R12.5, i also reported three errors to RS and found two version of authorizer on my machine what i uninstalled.
I´m on Win10 22h2
