Yeah great. So where's cut and paste?
Alright, now you’re just being silly.
If integrated destructive cut and paste is critical to you, but polyphony doesn’t matter, clearly we have different priorities.

And that’s been my point all along. Classic apples and oranges.
"I'm baking an apple pie, what kind of apples do you recommend?"
"Apples are shit. The don't come apart in segments, and taste nothing like orange juice."

If your point is that the sample editor inside reason could benefit from more functionality, then I totally agree. Oddly though, for me it does the job more often than not. And when it doesn’t, I’ll just fire up one of the other editors I mentioned earlier. All but one is totally free.

This is about sampling. Can you read the thread topic? You see that word there? Sampling. Not polyphony.

Cut and paste are maybe the most basic and essential features in any sampler. But you probably would also like a word processor without being able to do a backspace.

The invention of auto lazy chopping was such a curse. The art of sampling suffered a lot because of it. Not everything is about speed.

I can see how this would be true when comparing it with my old dj days. We mixed only vinyl then, it was a big deal to own really good tracks, to find them at the store and then buy them. Some were sought after and treasured and lent between good mates, then the others you owned were special and contributed towards your uniqueness and style as a dj so you knew them well.
Then CD djing came along and much was lost.
Then mp3 djing came along and now we have djs who have no clue what a track they are mixing is about or even when it ends or when it transitions.
My point being that simplifying and advancing the way djs dj made it really lose a lot of what was great about it in the beginning, I can see how it's similar for sampling and maybe many other things.

The journey. It's always about the journey, and all the memories along the way...

You might have noticed that the OP was talking about sampling his/her guitars. Assuming that we are talking about sampling for the purpose of creating a realistic playable instrument, I’d say you need at least six notes polyphony. I wouldn’t be happy with anything less than 64.

A lot of samplers (sample players, really, if we want to be pedantic) don’t incorporate much sound editing. Logic Pro Sampler, Bitwig Sampler, Ableton Sampler, TAL Sampler, any SfZ player, NN19, NN-XT. All of them shit, you’d say?

These sample players work less like a word processor, and more like a PDF viewer. The text is edited elsewhere.
Not your kind of thing? No problem.

Indeed and thank you for the reminder. Rather than whine about it, I can be very grateful that I had that time with it.
