• Fixed an issue with VST scanning where validation failed on certain VSTs
• AKAI mini mk3 codecs added
• Fixed an issue where users with a large amount of Rack Extensions in Reason Rack Plugin AU resulted in a "Failed Reading Rack Extension Data" alert
• Graphical fixes:
  
  • Graphical glitches when editing audio in Comp mode Editor
  • Buttons blacked out in Control Surface dialogs in Preferences (Windows only)
  • On-Screen Keyboard Sustain button cropped (macOS Ventura only)
• Added an alert in case installation fails when auto-updating Reason on macOS
• Fixed a bug where bounced samples could disappear (we’re still not sure where they went, but we’re suspecting they just needed a vacation)

In fairness it took Ableton 11 years to implement VST3 support in Live.

From my experience I'd say the new Minilab 3 codecs are missing too

I'm sure this has been asked a million times before, but where can I d/l the latest version of Reason (without soundbanks)?
Not having any luck updating through the program.

Mine is failing to update too, stuck on unpacking data. Not too bothered because the bug fixes probably won't affect me.

In fairness, Ableton supports VST2, VST3, AU and AUv3 now. And Apple Silicon, of course.

In fairness, Reason only started hosting VST 5 years ago. Ableton has been hosting VST for 18 years. And as mentioned, for 11 of those years (after VST3 was introduced by Steinberg) Ableton Live didn't have VST3 support.

It's funny to think that we might not even be having this conversation if Reason never introduced VST support. And I'm guessing a large majority of users would bet their money on Reason never having VST support when asked prior to Reason 9.5.

You guys do realise there are several easy workarounds to get VST3 working Reason, don't you?

Sure, it's been a while, and workarounds are less than ideal. But the no-VST3 whining is getting way more tedious than the no-VST3 situation itself

VST3 is coming. Try to get on with your lives in the meantime

I know, I own Live, but if Steinberg had been a better steward of their own standard and architected a smoother transition strategy to VST3 most everyone would’ve migrated a decade ago. If it was easy Reason would already have it, but clearly it isn’t and we know they’re working on it, so complaining isn’t going to make it go any faster. It sucks to wait, but thankfully very few plugins are VST3 only so it isn’t too debilitating.

It is frustrating that the big changes we are looking for (notably VST3 and M1) still aren’t there yet, but (to do the ‘glass half full’ thing) the upside is there is now a good pace of updates coming out of RS, the days when many months would pass with no fixes and close to zero comms seem to be over. That’s good. The more this continues, the more I’m personally persuaded that all the big stuff that isn’t there yet will happen soon enough.

Yeah there has been 12 updates so far for R12, and more to come.

since update 12.2.9, when I open my vst korg triton and triton extreme , it's immediately crashes reason
i have a MacBook M1 with Monterey
did anybody have the same experience ?

If you can't make music without VST3 you are using the wrong drum sticks

"Failed Reading Rack Extension Data" was not the exact error I was getting but as of this update RRP on M1 now works without running Rosetta. Both in Logic Pro and Ableton.

And if you don't know how to develop a DAW with VST3 support in 2022, maybe you shouldn't charge €499 for a DAW. But they do.
