Ok... so I have been using a Scarlett 6i6 since 2014, it still rocks and works wonderfully... in reaper.
However, in Reason I had been having many DSP issues unless I use a 1024 buffer or so.... I know there are a lot of issues on the Reason side with performance, however, I was hoping that upgrading my 1st gen Scarlett to a 3rd Gen could help with it.... but I don't want to spend the money to only realize it is the same performance on reason.....

thnx!!

Have you tried with the most recent R12 release where they reworked the threading code? Quite a few have reported that they can go to much lower latency/buffers with this version.

I am still on 11... I've read that 12 was worse than 11... so haven't upgraded

You could try if the code for a free 90 days Reason+ trial is still working: AVID-REASONPLUS-90DAY-TRIAL

This would give you access to the most recent R12 so you could check if it's working OK for you.

I own a 1st and 3rd gen. I think maybe there's some nice feature improvements but latency isn't noticeably better.

I have used both the first and third generation and, while there may be some good enhancements in features, the latency is not notably better on the latter.
