This was brought up at the end of a locked thread, but it’s something that I’m curious about. I do wonder if the simple fact that we’re on a message board might skew the results toward being older, as younger people might be far less likely to use/join message boards.

I been using Reason since abowt 17 years of age.

Yer.

Started out with a little bit of Cubase yunoe. Evolution Midi Studio. Music 2000. Them sorts of things.

Me mum thought it was just a phase. I actually wanted to be a designer when I got older. Or an IT professional or something.

If someone would have told me I'd still be hooking up cables in Reason racks at this ripe old age I wouldn't 'ave believed ya. No sir I wouldn't have believed you at all.

I'd have called you a stone-faced liar.

I just hope that kids of today, if I could pass anything on to the younger youths of today is to just be careful.

Yer mates might pull you round the corner and say, eh, come over here and look at my Reason racks. Or invite you to follow their SoundCloud.

Now I can't tell you wot to do with your life. But you're young and impressionable. You've got your whole life ahead of ya. You know wot I mean.

Those young folks are rather on reddit, FB/instagram, youtube, discord, or tiktok (or don't use/know Reason at all as it is too expensive and not freely available).

I'm 33, used reason since I got a demo of 2 with a computer mag - memory reckons around back end of 2002. So I'd have been 13 at best

Not musically educated at all, I just love seeing what I can do with it and the boredom never kicked in

Had to smile at the evolution midi reference as I do remember that - obviously you didn't get rack extensions :D but I did appreciate it back in the day. I remember their midi controllers were actually quite reasonably priced so that was the first range I wanted to buy in terms of hardware, but ended up with a cheap keyboard found on the carboot with a midi cable. Good days.

What if someone is 18? There's "under 18" and "19-25".
I don't think it will be a problem.... :D

I searched for "grandpa using a computer" and photoshopped reason onto the screen of the funniest one I found.

this was literally me about 1 year a go when I had a mac mini and had to use a 32" telly as my monitor ...I'm only just over 5 foot so the pic looks quite accurate to me!

Are we going with real ages or what the wife says when I'm playing with the grandchildren?

I'm shocked. Reason is going the way of the dodo. So I'm guessing FL Studio, Bitwig Studio and Ableton Live will have a younger userbase.
