Any way to remove Showcase folder from the Browser?
I've actually never paid any attention to it, other than always seeing it in the browser. So weird. I've never actually opened it since it was introduced, I've always just ignored it. I'm kind of floored by that, now that I think of it.
And now I'm bugged by it too... thanks for that MrFigg! And I suddenly have a bunch of questions. So I just clicked on it and am wondering about it now. Are these patches the same for everyone? And why are these patches in the showcase? What's the reason behind that?

I just opened up my show case folder and yea it contains the same exact patches. Strange I never thought to open it up before now. I always assumed that it was their as a means of dragging and dropping patches into that you may have liked so that you didn't have to hunt around for them. Of course I have never used it for that purpose assuming that it can be used like that.
I tried deleting the file (%APPDATA%\Roaming\Propellerhead Software\Reason\Showcase Reason 10.favo) and it didn't help. The file gets recreated on the launch.
I'm wondering where Reason pulls the contents from. Maybe from factory refills?

I wonder if you could put a blank dummy file there instead
I put a blank dummy file there and then used Finder's 'Get Info' to Lock the file.
That's removed it from the sidebar on my machine.
IIRC it was introduced a few versions ago. I think the comment at the time was that there were thousands of sounds in the FSB and it would be helpful to have a collection of standout patches to compete with the likes of Serum, etc, that put massive sounds front and center in their presets. It's the "new to Reason? Try these to see what it's capable of" folder.

Ruined some, saved someone else's. I just opened it up, browsed through random patches there, found what I liked and created a short 20 second loop with a catchy melody

You can also create your own favorites lists and don't have to hijack the Showcase list. I'd be surprised if people didn't know that, but since some people didn't even know about the Showcase list that's been there forever. It was even there in Reason's old modal browser:
It's been updated over the years.
So maybe some people don't know about creating favorites lists?

As I'm sure is true for most of you, I use Reason pretty much every single day. I've seen "Showcase" hundreds, if not thousands, of times; I've just never clicked on it. And that fact really blows my mind. I mean... really. WTF? And it's the only icon in the far left side of the browser that I hadn't ever clicked on. I really only use the first 4 (instruments, effects, utlz, players), song samples and then my custom folder links at the bottom.joeyluck wrote: ↑10 Jun 2022You can also create your own favorites lists and don't have to hijack the Showcase list.
