The reason music and competition threads don’t seem to fit

This is a weekly collaboration thread where I provide the reason file which would include 2-3 vital starter elements and invite other users to add 2-3 elements of their own. I will be the main producer overlooking the track and the final product will be released on all streaming sites + my own channel.

I think the competition forum wording should be extended to cover any work in progress.

I ask the question here since the other sub forums are undefined, and I would rather do the collaboration on this subforum because it gets more views

So basically your asking people to complete your ideas (make them good) and you upload to your channel?

I’m not sure what you’re insinuating but it’s a collaborative project meant to bring this community together. Those involved would get credit. And I’m representing the material as well as providing composition elements, vocals, mixing and mastering.

I can kinda see where Gullum might be coming from with his comment. Say you create a track with a couple of people which gets traktion and leads to sales who would get the money? Fair 3 way split. How do you plan to credit them etc. I guess you would have to agree this with your collaborative team first so everyone is happy.

Yeah, the way the OP is worded, this sounds like a horrible one-sided deal where the OP gets all the credit and benefit. You might want to take this idea back to the drawing board and make it more appealing for contributors.

To answer the question, I would say, no this isn't the right subforum for that. I would post your weekly Reason file in the Competition forum here: viewforum.php?f=59
Who knows, maybe somebody will contribute and help you create something great. Good luck.

Yeah it seems like a proposed "challenge" to me, so it would fit in that forum. Sounds similar in ways to the acid music challenge to create a playlist, or the loop challenge, but instead a challenge to create parts for a song. It could also fit in the music forum if you were to post a song and say, "I need vocals for this."

Reason General is about discussion about Reason.

I understand your concerns and I have everything planned out. The main purpose of this is community collaboration, nothing else. This idea also allows me to develop as the role of the main music producer who contributes and oversees the project.

As someone above may have implied, this is not getting people to “finish my tracks” lol. I can finish just fine. The project I started for this idea is already finished. In fact I most likely finish more music than most in the music industry.

you totally misunderstood and the reason to my question was because of your wording the post. If you want to be taken seriously at least take questions seriously

Did I not answer your question? What have I posted here that isn’t serious? My main question was where to post an idea like this. The actual collaboration thread with its details has not been created yet.

Yes there would be credit and a percentage of sound recording + publishing royalties available for the other collaborators to claim on their own behalf. I would not be handling their share. And it would not be an equal split because I am also doing the mixing and mastering, most likely the vocals, and then promotional stuff. I’m happy to negotiate the percentages when the time comes.

Gullum, Tomeo,

You desperately need to make a track together. Great songs come out of friction:

To answer the question, yes the Competition and Challenges forum would be the better place for it and you can pose it as a challenge.

Examples:
viewtopic.php?f=59&t=7527388
viewtopic.php?f=59&t=7524892

You can also post your work in progress to the Reason Music forum and ask for collaborators there.

There is also a Reason Song Files forum. You could share the Reason song file there and collaborate that way as well. viewforum.php?f=10

We'll go ahead and lock this thread since the primary question is answered and the discussion is not about Reason.
