Hi RT

I know there was previously some concerns and queries on upgrading to Window 11.
Reason has released a statement on it as of 23 March 2022;

From the post:

We are happy to report that the following Reason Studios products are compatible with Windows 11:
- Reason 12.2.5 and later
- Reason Rack Plugin VST3 (12.2.5 and later)
- Reason+ Companion 1.9.4 and later
- Authorizer 2.12 and later
- CodeMeter 7.10 and later

The following products have not been tested with Windows 11. Once these products have been tested, we will update this compatibility statement:
- ReFill Packer 10
- ReCycle 2.2.4

The following products are NOT compatible with Windows 11:
- Reason Rack Plugin AAX (since Pro Tools isn't officially compatible with Windows 11)
- Ignition Key

IMPORTANT!
Please note: your music making system does not consist of Reason Studios products alone. Please make sure that all your hardware (audio interfaces, controllers etc.) and programs (DAW hosts, VST plugins etc.) are compatible. Check the manufacturers' websites for details.

The ignition key not getting support is disappointing and the excuses are rubbish, it started with the new macs that don't have the USB socket joke and now it's propagated to windows 11?

However cubase has dropped it's dongle in favour of a 3 machine activation so maybe RS will eventually get a similar setup.

The wrong direction, but I am not in a hurry to get Win 11, was the same for 10, 8, 7, etc.

At least RS give us 3 install licenses? That would be fair for those with multiple pc.

Ignition Key hasn't been supported by RS for years. I always hated that dongle - also hate the idea behind it. I do agree allowing 3 offline authorizations would have been a better response from RS, though.

I hope that RS eventually gets a similar setup to Cubase. It would be great to be able to activate the software from a remote location, and it would be even better if there was a way to back up and restore the software.

My ignition key works fine in W11 (at least with R10).

It is a shame as it's nice to have as an option.

I don't like authorizing too many applications to the machine because that means I have to remember to deactivate each and every one of them.

It would be nice if there was a unified way to trigger all licenses to deactivate.

Yet I'm pretty sure a Mac is compatible with most USB devices as Thunderbolt is compatible with USB.

lol I'm still hoping for license files for daw and rack extensions without all the bullsh*t that is currently available.

Let's face it RS is promoting a copyright theift "not going to mention names" so allowing us real customers to actually use what we've actually paid for really shouldn't be a problem and hoping those who have robbed the community to get away with it in the hope they generate revenue is apparently acceptable now..... :?

Makes a lot of sense.

Apparently there's a secret cabal of alien lizard hybrids who feast on your copyrights.

I won't name any names, but there's a certain someone with a remarkably pointy tongue, a luminescent forehead and antennas for ears.

So yes, unless you were joking you are really making a lot of sense.

Alien lizards. Genius

The new authorization solution mentioned in the roadmap is being worked on as we speak, and it will be a huge improvement!

How so? Care to elaborate?

I can't say the name as it seems to generate more hassle than it's worth, but the person in question has given away copyright products for follows and is now watchable via the official Reason Studios YouTube channel.

What is the general consensus on Win 11 for general music production now? Every now and then when I turn on it presents me with a screen asking me to update. I *assume* it's somewhat safer than a Mac OS update. But I don't wanna bork anything.

It's cool. A lot of people continued to use cassettes even after CD's came out, too. Whatever floats your boat. :puf_bigsmile:

Can I authorize two computers? Do I have access to the net all the time in outside the studio recording sessions?
If so , that would be great ! (please show me the way :exclamation: )
If not, I am forced to use cassettes.
It seems cassette emulations seem to be the rave recently.
Oh ya... My belts for my cassette four track arrived yesterday

I literally just bought an open reel tape deck not even 4 days ago (vintage "new" old stock Akai GX-4000D). Can't wait to set it up!

Awesome score ... I loved those. We used them in film school at the university, and used others like it... Have fun  ...
I know I have missed my Tascam 244.
Too many songs were never transferred off of it before the belts finally wore out over 10's of thousands of hours of use, possibly even over one hundred thousand of hours use ( I wish they had a counter like cars )
I was quite busy making music with the energy of youth. Often we made up at least 3 songs a night for many years.
It will be a fun go back in the way back machine for the good , the bad, and the ugly> in the before times :exclamation:
I am also quite excited. :puf_wink: I am looking forward to some surprises>>>
and also the laughs when I find a song, and scratch my head and think, "Just what was I thinking there :?: "

People who have more than one computer use them. My studio desktop is authorized offline. My laptop uses the ignition key because f@ck requiring internet access to make music. Pretty straightforward.
