That's uplifting in a way. At least someone up in Propellerhead Valhalla acknowledged that the sequencer requests exist and have been heard.
That's as close as we've been for a while. Since x-fade really.
^^ THIS ^^

I'll admit it will maddening that we won't see anything this year, though (aside from VST3 support). Once VST3 support goes into beta testing, maybe enough voices will convince them to add some more main sequencer features in 2022 though. Here's to hoping!

Yeah it's definitely listed but at the moment I'm feeling very spoiled using Live sequencer so it's going to need to be more than just one or two things added for me to spend £199 ;)

The features I'm hoping they'll add, as they relate to VST, are the options to open upon creation and keep open by default. Those are huge for workflow.

I've never added a VST and not opened it. Opening upon creation is how other DAWs do it. I also prefer to close my own plugin windows and don't like them disappearing when I click to adjust a parameter in the rack.

I'm also hoping they fix MIDI CC to VST. That's a big issue.

So that's my hope. If they are focusing on VST, they can fix some of the stuff related to VST.

I suspect since they're focusing on VST 3 I'd imagine anything will see will be in that domain only. I suspect we will see zero changes with the current implementation of VST 2, especially seeing as how it's been deprecated. But I do agree with all of your suggestions - hoping they work it out right with VST 3.

Oh and I hope we can then browse by RE, VST, and VST3! It's already needed. It would make browsing so much better to be able to browse both RE and VST or just one or the other.

But it will most certainly be needed with VST3. Nobody wants to see a crap ton of duplicates of VST and VST3 for the same plugin.

One should never deal in future "hope" credits. Less stressful life.

In all honesty I don't really care for the development of Reason as in stuff added, I just want the program to be bug free and to work seamlessly.
It's still smooth sailing here on reason 10.

As for the pushing back of sequencer upgrades I have been let down with that so many times over so many years it barely even registers with me anymore, just more of the same, again and again.

I hate being so negative and critical of Props, but gees Louise.

VST3 has to be the priority, more and more stuff is being released VST3 only, take for example Wavestate and Opsix native by Korg today...Reason is so slow at getting the obviously essential stuff done.
Stop making stupid weekly soundpacks and get the DAW up to 2020 levels (let alone 2022!)

But Reason 11 saw the most updates to the Sequencer in one version that I've ever remembered.

We don’t actually know of they are completely ignoring it or working on it behind the scenes.
In any event, I would compare the current situation to doing s renovation on a house and dealing with changing foundational components - you don’t want to start adding additions to the building until the current foundational issues are resolved. Yes, I've been watching too many home reno TV shows lately…

Planning on upgrading to a Mac Studio near the end is the year so hopefully native Mac support comes through.

I'm in the same boat, looking at the Mac Studio especially if there is no new iMac 27". As it is, Reason shouldn't run any slower with the Mac Studio in Rosetta than it does on your current computer, but once it is optimized for M1 it's going to be a whole new experience!

Thats what i've been saying - native/universal binary will be nice, but it's not a show stopper right now. most estimates are noting that rosetta 2 performance hits are 10-15% to CPU. The m1 are so darn good that I'm not even close to maxing out the capabilities to where i need that back. using roland cloud in vst3 is of more use to me than being silicon native.

The problem Reason Studios have is that they are falling further and further behind all the other DAWs and Instruments. The majority have VST3 and M1 support now. It just doesn't fill me with either confidence in Reason Studios or enthusiasm for investing more time and money in the platform.

Well it wasn't enough for me to upgrade and sequencer upgrades are all I'm interested in really, plus endless people are unhappy about the progress here, and to see it pushed back again just feels like more of the same old story.

By the way it's nice to hear from an admin since the Benedict issue, I had a few unanswered private messages (perhaps to make a statement) but I was left wondering if you guys were all finished with me, seems we can still converse, that's nice :)

I think we can safely say they are slow at getting anything done - especially when compared to almost any other DAW. People post upgrade lists other DAWs have and there are massive insane lists that have a massive disappointing contrast to any of Reason's upgrades.

The excuses - small company / small budget / difficult software code / limited resources blah blah blah - are literally a decade old and they've been rinsed and repeated over and over. Then people start wondering about the side ventures like quoted here - the Soundpacks, maybe they are spending too much time / resources on Soundpacks. What about all the Alihoopaloops and other ventures they always take on. Whatever the issue is, get used to it if you are not already, I doubt the pace is going to pick up at any point.

That's always puzzled me too. Why would anyone load up a plugin and not want to see it immediately?

Seeing this latest road map has crystallised my view of what to expect in the future. I think Reason Studios are working their way back towards their original concept of Reason. I don't think they have the right people or desire to keep the DAW side of things (Audio, Midi, Sequencing etc) up with the likes of Live etc.

I'm going to try and accept Reason as an Instrument and Effects sketch pad. From the road map it's obviously what they are best at and motivated towards developing. I just hope that they get Reason 12 properly finished before moving on.

For Midi VSTs and all the other DAW stuff I'm moving to Logic.

When you open a preset, the UI may be not needed.
When you add multiple devices or set them up later, after you made proper connections it in the rack, the UI windows would annoy.

I'm for making that an option in Prefs.

They are both very much edge cases. But, yes, make it an option (not that they will!)

So if there is a ver. 13 this fall, these improvements will not be seen before ver. 14 or 15.
