I was trying to run 2 QNG's connected to Umph via CV to trigger individual notes and the second lower QNG has it's Run button cycled on and off every time the first triggers a hit. Is this supposed to be the function? or user error on my part? And if this is the default function it would be nice for them to work together in the future instead of having to create and entirely new channel just to get the cv.

I guess the MIDI from the top one is feeding into the bottom one. Just stick a dummy device not connected to a mix channel under the first one and you should be OK.

It works fine for me, but I notice a couple of things in your setup.

First, you have a range of pitches coming from the two visible lanes. I can't see the other lanes, but it's possible you're getting extra hits (hits caused by the Player stack feeding UMPF, rather than the CV wiring you've done on the back).

Second, because you're using KEY mode rather than SEQ mode, you're retriggering the bottom QNG repeatedly every time a note is played by the upper QNG (hit a key on your keyboard and watch the RUN button on the bottom QNG). This produces a different result than SEQ mode, which just runs QNG in sync with Reason when Reason is playing. Running QNG in Key mode is intended for transposing the QNG pattern according to what key you play, and since you're using drums, you wouldn't want that.

I would set both QNG's like this, with PITCH VARY and SPREAD set to 0% on all lanes, the BASE KEY for both QNG's set to C3 or higher (well above UMPF's note map), and the OFFSET set to 0 for lanes 2, 3, and 4 in both QNG's. Notice that all of my QNG notes are now the same pitch.

Finally, I use SEQ mode instead of KEY mode, so that QNG only plays when Reason plays. This prevents the unwanted triggering of QNG2 from QNG1.

Using QNG as a drum sequencer is cool because it's a Euclidean rhythm sequencer. The RHYTHM section of QNG is where you control things. Also, you can automate the Lines on and off, change their densities with the Pattern dial, play with variations, velocities, etc. Very nice!

I'd also set the Master Vary to 0% just to keep things clean. Notice that all my QNG notes are the same pitch.

Thanks this solved everything. Now they are behaving the way I want. I figured it was user error. But I learned something new today. Now I have another way to make fills.

Do you know how to use the Freeze function? It's a great way to lock in useful patterns before you Send to Track.

Yes the freeze function is great. It's one of the reasons that I wanted to figure this out. I like how QNG, Drum Seq and Beatmap all have different controls that can totally change your fills. Sometimes I want a randomized hat pattern but I want to set the step length or the rate randomly and QNG gives me that. I just wanted to see can I do an entire kit. Which by the way:

Umph Club and Retro Drums (8 separate audio outs 8 CV)
Redrum (10 separate audio outs 10 CV)
RDK (7 Separate audio Outs but 12 CV ins)
RDM (8 and 8)
Kong (8 separate outs 16 CV)

Can we just get a player that has in 1 unit all the functionality with 16CVs to cover everything. I'm getting lazy as I get older and need easier ways to route my horrible sounding nonsense

I think Kompulsion is as close you'll get, for now.

I keep forgetting about that one. I need to look for that come BF Sales. Guess I'd just have to use a combi to control everything.
