Hey folks.

Just wondering about this.
I keep my sample rate at 44k to work in Reason but it often just swithces 96k which is the sample rate of a lot of my recorded audio. I've never worked out what triggers it, it may happen at the beginning or middle of a session. I just accept that this happens and when my rig starts running hot I just go switch is back to 44k.
But in R12 this seems to happen more that in previous verisons.

Anyone else getting this? Has anyone noticed greater frequency of occurance?
Can nayone explain why Reason would decide to switch at seemingly random times?

I haven't encountered this. Are you switching audio devices? Audio settings including sample rate are remembered per audio device. This is also per any aggregate device created.

No. Nothing. I just run reason straight out of my Mac.

Hmmm. Are you ever switching between built-in output and built-in output + built-in microphone? But anyways, you could report it if it seems like it is doing it randomly.

No. No switching anything. It just happens.
But it’s curious to me if no one else has it. Or ever did. This pre-dates 12.

Could running Rx in parallel trigger it I wonder. As it’s using the same engine but exporting at 96k.
Hmmm...

That could be it.

On this topic, I still wish the audio settings were presented in the transport to be easily seen with profiles that can be saved and loaded (such as "recording" vs "mixing" profiles). Or even if I could just select the audio device from the transport, that would be handy. In macOS, we can create numerous aggregate/multi-output devices for the same single device, and give different audio settings to each of those aggregate devices in Reason and switch between them. But if having to visit the Preferences, then it's not much more work to set the sample rate, etc. from there.

There’s plenty of room in the transport bar for sure.

I need to look into this but if it’s rx tripping it, I could conceivably make an aggregate device inly for Rx, correct?
Honestly I’ve never used the aggregate device thing thus far. Never had a need really.

Do you absolutely need to Run RX stand-alone and Reason at the same time? Some programs cause issues when sharing an audio interface with another.

If I could bounce directly into Rx and back into reason I’d do it.
I kinda wish iZotope would buy reason and make Rx the sample editor. So yeah, It’s quicker to run both and keep an eye on the sample rate.

Anyway, it's def Rx. I can live with it.
I don't think there's any change in R12, just that I've been Rx'ing more than usual.
I should have clocked the Rx thing but thanks for the input.
