I can’t be the only one that’s noticed?! But the wheels on the Combinator 2 no longer have shadows!

They were there in the original Combinator. So why not for Combinator 2? Everything has shadows, except wheels! :?

not necessary a bug when you look at some of the synth re's they don't have shadows and unlike combinator 1 the light and shadows are not angled so because the wheels are rounded they may not cast a shadow on the device in that light setting ?

Looking back at the original Combi I also noticed the shadows have moved. To be honest, I’ve barely noticed if and where shadows are cast on most devices! :? Just looks odd that everything raised on the Combi2, even red the button labelled ‘noise’ in the pic I posted before, has a shadow and the wheels don’t!

Too Late

(I believe the shadow is visible.
However, with the old Combinator, the light source was at the top left and the shadow was therefore diagonally at the bottom right.
With the new Combinator, the light source is just above and the shadow is therefore below the controls.
Since the wheels are round, the shadow falls from the highest point to the lower part of the wheel, which is also somewhat darker.)

by this logic they should have updated the shadows on all the old devices when making them HI res or do the new combinator in the old light setting. now light is coming from all angles inside the rack

When the SDK allows a 2D workflow you were no longer restricted to using the built in light sources, thus shadows were no longer under the strict control of the SDK. Up to that point all shadows had around a 315° angle which is how I create shadows even in the 2D workflow. But at the same time, the new Reason devices moved the light source to directly above and many devices after that point seem to have adopted that approach.
But still there were inconsistencies, even before this change. For example, check out how the mixer shadows are around 315° for all knobs, but directly above for slider caps and buttons. But in the rack, both sliders and knobs have shadows that imply an overhead light source. For example, open an audio track and Show Programmer - the blue knobs in the programmer have side shadows, the blue knob that is panner has bottom shadow - the same exact knob type in the same "device", only inches apart! Go figure.
And if THAT never bothered anyone before now, then one could make the argument that at least at one level it doesn't really matter…

GTX 3080 will be minimal requirement but you will be able to see the reflections of the blinking lamps from the alligator in the Thor on the rack to the right of it! Very realistic!

All the shadows will also come from the same angle!

I don't know why we can't have a real sunlight in sync with our computer clock and local weather. From sunrise to sunset, with or without clouds, the shadows moving accordingly.

Then have the light source switch to our user defined rack light after that.

I shall call it Shadow+
