Non stock devices in Reason 12 factory soundbank combi
Hi all,
I was browsing through the "New in Reason 12" favorites list from https://www.reasonstudios.com/blog/comb ... -reason-12
I found two combi patches "Deep Electronica 95bpm" and "Black Dog Shuffle 90bpm" that contains Poly Step Sequencer.
As far as I know Poly Step Sequencer is not a stock reason 12 device, so is it normal that the factory sound bank contains patches with non stock devices in them?

A little bit sloppy to be releasing patches that contain devices that someone might not have. Have you reported it?
It is not too much of an ask for people or things to be the best version of itself!

OP has a point though.
This is totally my fault. In the crunch leading to release I've obviously been on autopilot and grabbed an instance of Polystep without thinking. Interestingly when I saw this thread I said to myself "but isn't Polystep a stock device?" so went off to the main site to check and it turns out it's actually pretty hard to find out what devices are included in each version. All the patches also went through a vetting process where several other people looking at them must have had the same confusion.
Regardless, it's an easy fix. But with most users now being on Reason+ it's debatable whether RS will want to fix it. I would imagine come Reason 13 the factory bank will be focused on all RS (R+) devices, so although it's an issue at the moment it will become less and less so as time ticks onward.
To RS - If you need a couple of replacement patches just drop me a mail and I'll get it sorted out quickly.
And apologies to the users for any confusion this might have caused!

So the RoadMap is near complete
R.I.P perpetual licence holders…
Just to clarify things here - I am not an official voice of RS so my comments should just be taken as random thoughts/opinions/speculation. I am merely the sound designer that made the mistake in question so I'm here to own that and apologise.

Good on you, respect! Easy mistake to make in fairness.

Weeeeeell…speaking of the FSB has anybody ever noticed that in the Factory Sounds/ DrRex Instrument Loops/ Synth Loops/ Acid Squelch 128 bpm folder that AcidSquelch1 and AcidSquelch3 are exactly the same?
I mean come on!!!
Hahahahahaha. True.

Hey folks,
RS have been in touch with me regarding replacement patches so a fix is incoming.
Apologies again for the confusion!

In the replacement patches I've simply removed Polystep. You loose that initial wow factor of the full track playing when you hit run but the same beat and pad/topline split are present.

Not really. I'm just going with James's comments which are all public information. James stated that the R12 userbase is 10x the size it was when compared to R11 post launch numbers - That's obviously down to the subscription lowering that barrier of entry and bolstering the userbase significantly. So yeah, regardless of how it looks on RT, I believe that the lion's share of users are now subscribed to Reason+.

Where did James say this (just curious)?nickb523 wrote: ↑22 Sep 2021Not really. I'm just going with James's comments which are all public information. R11 was a slow burn that gained traction with RRP, so many of those additional users after (R11) launch could have come up before January 2021 when R+ launched. That said, the CEO himself said that half of Reason users are actually standalone Reason DAW users, with the other half RRP users, though - so at least that's something.
Win 10 | Ableton Live 11 Suite | Reason 12 | i7 3770k @ 3.5 Ghz | 16 GB RAM | RME Babyface Pro | Akai MPC Live 2 & Akai Force | Roland System 8, MX1, TB3 | Dreadbox Typhon | Korg Minilogue XD
I just had a quick search but can't find it, could be the roadmap or main R12 thread? - Hopefully he'll chime in here.EnochLight wrote: ↑22 Sep 2021

AFAIK for RRP the userbase is split 60/40 in favour of RRP.

Now that's an interesting stat. Source? The ceo himself said it was roughly 50/50:

Cool; thanks! 10x as many users a week after launch is pretty impressive, and I'm sure many of those came aboard with R+ subs as you said - using the 3+3+3 deal. Will be interesting to see what things look like in another 6 months, as many will cancel I would imagine.
