Curious what Reason tools the group uses for tape saturation? I'm trying to replace an Elektron Analog Heat hardware effect in my setup and do something similar in Reason. I only used the saturation engine on the Heat, so this is what I'm trying to replace, not the distortions, etc.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Can't make any comparisons but the options in Reason are Scream 4 and Audiomatic. Both have a tape option. Personally I tend to use Softube Tape though (VST).

I'm a longtime fan of Klanghelm. His SDRR device is gorgeous sounding, with four unique models and plenty of options. And remarkably inexpensive.

The stock options aren't that great unfortunately. There are some Re that do this kind of thing. D1RT and CrapRe I think. VST is probably the way to go for best results. I use Magneto 2 , the stock tape sim in Cubase and PSP vintage warmer, which has been making my recordings awesomer for nearly twenty years now!

Why can't you keep using the AH via overbridge?

Hornet Tape is dirt cheap and excellent.
Actually, that applies to all their VSTs.
I particularly like how they auto gain everything so you don't fall into the louder=Better trap.

I just found out that UMPF Retro Beats RE (also included in R11 Suite) has Tape FX input. Sounds nice.

Chow is my favorite tape modeler because it has a clear interface and is easily editable. I prefer not to use tape emulation, though. Even the best emulation is a crass approximation of the real thing. As someone who used tape, I find that most tape modelers are way too over-the-top. Unless you were using a broken tape machine or damaged tape, you generally weren't going to hear most of the stuff tape modelers introduce into the signal.
